Did he really cheat? He passed ....

every test they threw at him for years and never failed a test. So was he just playing by the rules in force at the time? Sure, he was doing stuff, but was it cheating? Or did he just push the limits? Was he breaking the spirit of the rules? Who knows? And what exactly (or who) caused his fall from grace? Is it sort of like "minimum" standards?

I'm going with Dave on this. My little scronny ass used to be a power-lifter. I got offered the "roids". Sure I might have gotten ripped. Hell.. I already was. I don't remember what they tried to get me to do - 8-ball, speed-ball.. I don't recall. I took none.
Dam could I lift some weights then.
Almost 300 on the bench. I think 278 is where I maxed out on.
Dead lift was about 1200.
No one believed it until they saw me walk that truck down the street. 5 or 6 witnesses.
No one needs these drugs. Just a state of mind.

I have no clue what Lance's deal is. That's his business.
Last time I lifted was circa '96. I wracked out about 170.
I reckon pretty good for a 135 pound boy. I'd be lucky to go 125 soakin wet these days.

Forget Armstrong.. put Pete Rose in the hall of fame.

And.... that's my final answer...

If you are watching professional sports,
you are watching cheaters.

Where's the fascination in that?

So you know that everybody cheated?

So the countless lies and denials that he told about neeevvvver taking drugs, the foundation he built and the money he made all on his 'accomplishments', the fame he soaked in, all a lie.

So if a bunch surveyors lie about the facts on a survey, its for you to as well?

Dig a little deeper into the fact Dave and you can learn why he passed.

"If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin" has been attributed to many people in many sports it seems. I for one, just don't care if an athlete takes performance-enhancing drugs, pills, shots or drinks - it's all about the entertainment value. I don't seem to remember anyone ever promising that a sporting event was played on a level field, and many times, it has seemed like the outcome had already been determined.
we've got about 5 weeks until pitchers and catchers report - play ball.

Yes he cheated. And yes, he was still faster than all the other cheaters. And yes, probably most pro athletes did or do cheat. In my opinion, his biggest sin was ripping the other guys to shreds who got caught, while he was doing the same thing. Now he's pushed into a corner and is forced to come clean.

What I'm wondering is

How many others will he now take down with him? Will it be enough to wipe out the so-called sport? Or will the sport have to change it's rules in order to have anyone participating?

Don't kid yourselves. Steroids and other performance-enhancers are widely used at the high school level all over the country. Just like teens drinking alcoholic beverages. Everyone knows it happens, but, no one wants to be unpopular by penalizing those who get caught violating team rules.

The goal in punishing the professionals is to convince the amatuers to NOT use performance-enhancers. Hard to overcome the allure of popularity, big bucks and party-style living we associate with pro athletes, though.

The outright lies are the worst part!

This was a big disappointment to me as I believed him and passing all the tests and all. But it comes down to all the lying and is the worst thing about it.

Yet, when politicians do it, we like it.

I had always thought his cheating revolved around his having cancer and using available(and legal), drugs to maintain himself.

Evidently this is all wrong . . .

:good:

Getting a little close to P&R there.....Neither I, nor the mouse in my pocket, respect lying and cheating especially from politicians (and I'm not being partisan here).
