I was reading a thread yesterday and one of the names caught my eye.
Grant Brady, you wouldn't happen to be the same Grant Brady that used to work for Africa Engineering Associates would you? My dad now owns the company and I can recall seeing the name pop up in old field notes and what not. If that isn't ironic enough, I've been working with a guy that used to work for you, Dave Simpson.
Boy it really IS a small world.:-)
🙂 🙂
Yup, guilty as charged!! We need to meet sometime and bring me up to date. Do you still use the old AEA name for your business?
BTW, Dave did not work “FOR” me, he worked “WITH” me; great guy!! Ah, the mid 1970s. We could run traverse all day and hardly talk. We both could anticipate each others moves; no radios, hand signals; Berger 6-1/4” transit, stiff leg tripod; 300' drag tape (add-on type), hand levels, plumb bobs, field books, etc. And he wasn't afraid to cut line; necessary when using a 300' tape in these PA woods. He loves finding those old stone corners while doing retracement surveys!
We also worked with another Co. using the Kern DKM and DM 500 EDM, leap-froging the tripods. We could really make time then. Times were changing.
Give Dave a big “HOWDY” from me.:totalstation: :gammon:
Grant
Grant and his wife are good people. If you ever have the opportunity to meet them, do not hesitate!
Thanks, Wendell, Happy Thanksgiving to you and Angel.
Do not pass up an opportunity to have a “BEER LEG” event with Wendell and Angel.
They can gather a fun and interesting group!
We changed it a little, it's now called "Africa Engineers & Land Surveyors" down on Fourth St. in Huntingdon, there's a lot of history in that office. I will tell Dave you said Howdy, he's a great guy to work with and I've learned quite a bit from him. He can still cut brush with the best of them too.
