I always have liked rain days.
Me too. As a kid it meant I didn't have to go out and do farm work. I could lay around and read.
Years ago I made a 'transition' from field to office. Things went well until the first rainy day. I couldn't fight the burning desire to go look for rummage sales and a pool table. My mental compass pointed directly at the door...I could not for the life of me focus on what I had on my desk. It was raining!
I have never really gotten use to it, either.
Along those lines, it has been almost 50 years since I got out of school. If I'm working in the field in the afternoon and a school bus drives by...I lose my focus.
After all these years when I see a school bus I want to go home, eat peanut butter and watch Superman on the tube...
Some things never change.
When I first started, rain days meant a day in the office or doing gear maintenance.
Then we got an extra pay allowance for "wet hours".
Now all the gear is waterproof and we are expected to work in all weathers.
:good:
I'm still that way, too. 🙂
> The are called "days" here.
But when it rains, it's just rain. In OK "rain" is synonymous with gusting wind, thunder, and lightning. But it keeps the dust down.
Me too. I don't guilty about not being out in the field.
I used to work in a light rain, or when rain was close. I lost a data collector to getting wet this year, and have made a policy that if rain is near, or it starts raining, it is time to pack it up. I was caught out in a hard downpour that snuck up on me.
I got lucky this time. The insurance covered the loss. I might not be so lucky next time. They did make mention of not working in the rain.
There is always something to do in the office.
Looking back at our school days, life was SSSOOOOOOOOOO much easier. Of course at the time we didn't think so.
