Me thinks a bug ran upstream while standing 2P.;-)

Get well soon, Angel. We can't have you taking all of Wendell's time away from us.

? Awww...Thanks, Guys. ?

For all of the prayers and well wishes. *sniffles* I just slept 4½ hours. Thank goodness for bone pain drugs!! 😀

Just glad I got this crud AFTER coming home and not while there. It is definitely a butt kicker!! Doc says it would have been worse if I hadn't got the flu shot. I cannot imagine it much worse.:-/ When even my fingers hurt to type, it's a butt kicker!! (took me 15 minutes to type all this)

The e/r took very good care of me. They didn't waste any time. Unusual for Salem Hospital. The breathing treatment was a Godsend!! Wendell went off to get my prescription filled and get more drugs and some groceries. Wendell is making home made soup of some sort.

So, you guys who I owe prizes too, it's going to be a little bit delayed but I promise you once i get back on my feets I'll get them out. 🙂

 JOBO!!! See, he's alive!! He surfaces!! He is a sweety. :bye:

Wow, sorry to hear this. When you're sick enough to feel you need to go to the ER you're hurting. But, yeah, rest is good. Appears you're feeling a little better. Just stay warm and hydrated. You'll be alright.

Take care,
Ed

> Wendell is making home made soup of some sort.

I'm making the last recipe I got from my Grandma Bunnie before she passed away a few years ago. She was 100% Czech and threw stuff together without recipes, yet it always came out the same (delicious every time!). One day, I decided I needed to start watching what she was doing and ask her to estimate the quantities of each ingredient so I could write it down.

This recipe came out exactly like her version the very first time I tried it. Either I'm that good or she was a good guesser. I would put money on the latter. Anyway, here's the recipe:

Grandma Bunnie's Incredibly Awesome Beef-Chicken-Vegetable Soup

Combine the following in a large stew pot:

  • 1 lb. beef soup bones
  • 1 lb. beef shank
  • 8 cups water
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 yellow onion, diced fine
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 16-oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 bunch celery tops (cut off just below the leaves)
  • salt & pepper to taste

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 2 hours.

After the stew pot has been cooking for 1-1/2 hours, combine the following in a large sauce pan:

  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 4 medium potatoes, cubed (3/4")
  • 3 carrots, diced
  • 3 stalks celery, diced
  • 1 yellow onion, diced fine
  • 1/2 head cabbage, diced (2")

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add contents of sauce pan to the stew pot and mix well. Test for taste, add additional beef bouillon, as needed. Remove beef bones and celery tops. Break up the beef shank (a combination of a large fork and tongs work well for shredding).

Serve with garlic bread.

I'm not a prayer, but I hope modern technology fixes you up soon!

BTW, don't be fooled by JOBO, he's crazy. I can tell by that subdued optimism of his. It affects all crazy people as we get older. Unfortunately, his lack of communication indicates he is getting younger again, and more skeptical. I'm pretty sure they have not found a cure for this as yet.

Angel

I had the dang swine flu last year. Even missed a Bob Dylan concert I had tickets for, it was that bad. If you were having breathing problems, it's good you went in to the ER. When I called the Dr., they said not to bring that sh@@ in there, stay home. I've never had a flu shot in my life and I only remember having the flu maybe twice. Airplanes are kind of cesspool for that kind of stuff, especially this time of year. Give it a week, you'll be fine.
