I just got an email from an engineer that I work with occasionally. He asked me if I know what a "Pontextual Map" is. I went to a couple of online dictionaries that had no listing for the word at all. A browser search came up with four items, one of which contained a Trojan horse that Avast had to get rid of for me. None of them had anything to do with a map. Has anybody ever heard of this word? I'm starting to think whatever the engineer is looking at is a typo and is supposed to say "contextual" except the "c" is nowhere near the "p" on the keyboard. Maybe somebody dictated it to a secretary and the secretary heard a "p" instead of a "c". Do people still dictate letters nowadays?
Never heard of it.
I have no idea.

I think it's a typo too.....

Most likely Contextual Map
Conceptual. Somebody heard somebody wrong.

How many contextual maps have you done, Paul?

> How many contextual maps have you done, Paul?
What does that have to do with anything?
It has to do with the fact that the engineer didn't mean contextual map.
Stephen
Steve-
Might it have to do with underlining/identifying the changes in a map ?
I found this here: http://cordis.europa.eu/fetch?CALLER=MSS_LV_RESU_EN

15. Eurohistory.net portal
During VICODI a web portal of European history was created.
The basic functionality of it is as follows:
Once the user has found (or written himself) an article, he/she can paste the text (or URL) into the on-line contextualisation tool and retrieve the same text with pontextual links in it (as underlined words, phrases, names, years, etc.).
By recognizing certain parameters (keywords, years, names, ... (read more)
Confirms my confidence in engineers that design our skyscrapers and bridges.
Could be...The engineer didn't tell me what the "context" of the "pontext" is but I'll let you know if I find out.

So sorry Stephen. I had no idea you spoke with the engineer after you read the email to Mr Gardner.
Didn't have to.

Thanks, for the laugh, Paul. I chuckled about that all the way home. Doesn't take much to amuse me, I admit that.
Perhaps he wants a pontifical map showing the whereabouts of the Pope throughout his life following installation.
