Jambo

a few photos from the last couple weeks ...

...this morning I wake to pouring down rain....just like the mornings of the past 8 days...I sure look forward to the freedom from the confinement of my rain gear but not today I guess...a lot of flying in fog conditions with a fogged up bubble from wet clothes..:(

...also looking forward to participating more on the boards but a couple more weeks of this project before time slows down again...

Incredible, as usual. The landing zone video... wow, I'd have been hard-pressed to even get on that 'copter.

"Kilbucks" sounds like an underground operative formed in cooperation with companies like Folger's, Yuban, etc.

Yeah, a couple of them stop loading after the first 20 or 30 pixel rows or so.

Daryl,

Great pics (again)! I'm surprised that the Discovery Chanel hasn't approached you to do a documentary. I mean, jumpin jesus, helicopters, bears (that would probably kill you in a heartbeat), wilderness, Alaska, what surveying is like in remote regions, etc.

Thanks for the post.

Looking good Daryl, as always.

A hint on your electric fence. In the photo with the helicopter, it was sitting on some nice flatish rocks. The bear won't go to ground well with rocky ground like that, hence not much if any shock if he hits the wire. Try to have the fence permiter on soil where his pads will get a good ground. The only way to do it with rocky ground is run some additional wires that are grounded, hoping he will hit both a hot and ground at the same time. Believe me, I know this from fencing the Cub on gravel bars. I always look for a sandy area.

Like the BT fonts.

The Surveying is just incredible, but that heli pilot was a bad-ass.

Nice videos, etc..

WOW!! That helicopter pilot is obviously trained at what he does. I would of been petrified!!

I liked the doggy that greeted you. 🙂

THIS video I likey!! (Cept for the walrus. EWWW!)

You put that together that made it fun to watch and listen too.
Love that doggy! I can't believe you jumped into that swimming pool FULLY clothed. You're Crazy!!

Nice basket shot & arm "expression". How many tries did that take? hehehe

Who sings the song at the middle-end? The "tonight" song...? It's very soothing.

Would like to go to that hometown bar too.

When are you coming back to Oregon?? Wendell and I want to get together with ya & I've always wanted to go up to where you "live". Isn't there hot springs somewhere up there? My friends have a cabin close by there that I can use. Let us know.

thanks guys...

working off an internet dish with bandwidth problems so some photos are not uploading...

yeah Mike on the electric fence...it certainly works on myself...I guess that makes me grounded

We have had two pilots on this job...the first guy flew the machine like it was a Chinook...a lot of walking climbing hiking involved. Then Mark, the Kiwi shows up, our pilot from last year on the Anantuvak project...awesome flying skills...the chopper is just an extension of himself...

Heading to Togiak after this gig...trade in the bears for walrus..

I'll be back in Oregon probably around October...anybody want to meet up for beers drop me a line...

That fence installation looks good Daryl. Lots of natural ground for paw grounding on the outside of the fence.

The pilot makes all of the difference in flying, particularly with rotorwing.

Make sure you register any TU you recover, there is an agent in Togiak.
