I drive mine well. However, all of our safety classes teach for your first motion to be forward, so by habit, I tend to back in everywhere now.

Makes a huge difference in the morning. I haven't ran over a toy in the drive for many years. 🙂

Remember the energy crisis in the 70's and the days when the only vehicles worth much money were tiny things. Those gigantic gashogs were going to go away forever. Yeah, right!

My world is full of full-size pickups, SUV's and vans. I'm considering purchasing another pickup right now. It is a 4x4 with extended cab with a V8 under the hood.

It is tough to get out of diagonal parking spaces unless you are driving the tallest vehicle on the street.

I'm with you on that one. i was just at Lowes to pick up our Christmas Tree. A whole empty lot to my left, and some douchebag in an F350 Dually parks so close to my truck I accidentally hit his door with mine when I squeezed in. His truck was so big it went over the concrete parking stops about 4 feet into the next space.

Kris- my peeve is not with large vehicles- just poor drivers. When it takes this person innumerable tries to get it halfway squared up, they should consider some alternatives. There are times in the am when others are stuck out in traffic waiting for this person to 'git'er done' - what's more embarassing about things is that 40%-50% of the other people parking there have CDL's so there is a lot of eye rolling...- unfortunately for this individual, when sugar daddy gave her the truck it didn't come with the parking assistant..... oh well maybe next time....

YES, not mad because it was a large truck, but when you do drive something so much bigger than the standard vehicle, you should be able to park it without nearly hitting someone. why not park a few spaces down, the whole friggin lot was there to be used.. just dumb dumb dumb.

I don't know what it is about the guys that drive those lifted monstrosities but they all drive like jerks. They always have mudder tires but there isn't a spec of dust on the truck; they go everywhere at full throttle, tailgate, impatient fools.

I get the feeling it's BIG truck little... syndrome.

Let them know how you feel (Warning: bad language link)

There are subtle ways to let the offender know you don't appreciate their parking technique.

Then there is the Formal Notice that you can leave on their windshield - You Park Like an A**hole ( http://www.youparklikeana**hole.com). Change ** to ss. Yes, this is a real site.

Be sure to check out the Gallery. I'm sure you'll find someone you seen there.

Playing devil's advocate, I drive a 1500 Classic with the turning radius of a Greyhound bus. Totally stock, and in states that allow 9' parking spaces (gotta love'em, designed by people who drive Mini Coopers and Priui) it requires a 16 point turn to park if I pull in, or a 4 point if I back in, so backing in is actually faster.

My favorite are the trophy wives with their new Lexus that take up two parking spaces just so nobody touches their goody.

The Avalanche, Tahoe, and Cherokee all were tighter turning than the Red Dragon.

My peeve is people that think they are so great, and everyone else in the world is just in their way.

You know the type, no patience when it comes to courtesy.

These are the same yahoos at the boat ramp, if you don't fly around like a half crazed lunatic, they pout and whine that you're in their way.

Spineless, selfless a-holes, everyone of them.

I was parallel parking at the courthouse (limited parking) behind a crew cab, and eased back in and then cut the wheel and swung the front in. I was backing uphill, but there came a point where I could not get the CRV to back up, what I did not realize was the Crew cab had a honking hitch sticking out that I did not see, and my front bumper was trying to ride over it, which it finally did but not before it shook the truck, just enough to wake up the guy sleeping in the back seat, who I noticed after the fact. I decided to walk over an apologize, not sure it helped as he was grumpy. 🙂

I found it distressing that posts on that site considered it a crime to drive 55 where the speed limit was posted at 65. Last I heard the 65 was a maximum, not a minimum. Doing so in the left lane, of course, is indeed frowned on.
