I am looking for a pedometer which can be set to display the distance walked in "feet," rather than steps, miles, or whatever else (yup, I found one that can be set to display in inches, yards, miles, centimeters, and meters - but not feet), and can be adjusted to my particular stride length.

I called "PedometerUSA" but they do not have such a unit.
thanx,
🙂

O come on, now count your paces!!!

Or...

Maybe I'm ocd!

There has to be a psychological term for obsessive counting of paces....

Before I'm old and gone, your Iphone will have an app for that, complete with scale factors!

🙂

Counting Paces!
Now there is a novel thought. Why didn't I think of that? Duh!!!

I have been in this game since the mid 60's. I believe I can count paces and arrive at an accurate distance as well as most. HOWEVER, I find in many cases, that the prospective client wants to show me something. So, we start walking, all the while he is talking, asking questions, reflecting on fond memories of childhood, etc.
Ya know what? Sometimes, just sometimes, mind you, I lose count while answering his question about how large a "rood" is, or vara, or chain, rod, pole, perch, (oh, no not the perch, that was the fish he caught over yonder in the creek when he was 10 years old), etc.
Could I still use a standard pedometer which displays steps and then do the math?
Yes, I indeed could. But why not use a tool that displays exactly what I want (distance in feet) as opposed to the number of steps, or the distance in miles? IF SUCH A UNIT IS AVAILABLE?

what is your problem that you feel need to chide me for wanting such an item? Regardless of what my reason is?

Mr Geezer

With all due respect, My reply was all in truth.... picking on you!

I have thought about it too. I have a fuzzy correction for undulating terrain, added to my pacing.

I even saw a roll o wheel the other day, and thought of using it the same.

What has kept me out of your situation, has been that my stride is 3', on level ground, and I walk fast, so I OUTRUN my clients!!

So, While I sort of agree with your idea, well, you see what happened to me!

And, so Mr Geezer, I hope you find what you need.

It was fully tongue in cheek.

RG,
Yeah "walking" has become more difficult since I saw you last. Had a dozen or so surgeries on my feet in the last 5 years or so. Removed both plantar facia from heel to toe, removed 4 toenails, amputated two toes.

Don't know that I am any better than before surgery, but the pain is a lot less (although the phantom pain of the missing toe drives me crazy sometimes, coz I know that something that isn't there can't hurt, but the pain is real.

Anyway, how are you and yours doing? did you survive driver's training with daughter?

Measuring Wheel

A measuring wheel can be pretty handy, I chuckled when I came across one in a van I was taking over once but found it to be a nice tool in the box.

I can pace a under a hundred feet within a foot more times than not, but being able measure many hundreds of feet to recon a mon and not some other mon 2 feet away is a hefty add to a site walk.
