Ok, can someone tell me why people won't use PayPal? Apparently it's used as a scam, but I don't understand what it is. I've used Paypal many times, I've even had clients who paid for surveys with Paypal.

Once when I was starting my own business I was interested in a used total station. I was speaking to a guy who had one that sounded good for my purposes, but he lived along distance from me. I asked if he would be interested in shipping it and letting me pay through Paypal. He hung up on me and I never spoke to him again.

I guess I just don't think like a thief.

IF you have a problem with PayPal there is literally no way to get beyond the service techs. There are no real Supervisors to help.
I have used their web mail and the phone with the same result: confused simpletons that could not quite understand. Request for a supervisor resulted in a less intelligent person.
My banks were all able to detect what their procedural problems were (refused Credit Cards and ATM Cards), relaying that info the PayPal did not help.

Several years ago I had Zero problems.
About 6 months ago it all went to hell in a handbasket.
My last few purchases I was able to get sellers to accept other payment methods.
One seller remarked "this is great! I didn't have to wait for my money, and there are no fees". (I made a direct deposit to their bank, it took 12 hours, then they shipped)

They were/are Owned by Ebay... some sort of banking scandal forced them to split up... but I do not trust it.

I don't recall a scandal, I think the decision was based on running each as an independent profit center.

I still use PayPal a lot for eBay purchases, but the bank account on file is one in which I keep very little money. I use a credit card instead so I have a layer of protection between PayPal and my significant assets.

I have been using PayPal for years and have NEVER had any problems with t hem. Any issues that have arisen (and those have been VERY few) have been handled very quickly and professionally.
The North Koreans and Chinese are running scam messages supposedly from PayPal telling you of problems with your account and asking you to verify information that PayPal will never ask for in an email (SSAN and other account numbers). You respond with the requested info you are in for a ride through your bank account. You can usually spot the bogus "alerts" by the way they look, the poor English grammar and the nature of the requested information.

I've been using PayPal since day one. There have been a few disputes, but PayPal handled them very well. I also have the PayPal debit card. Someone somehow got the number and ran up a bunch of charges one day (which could happen to any card). PayPal caught it, called me on the phone to verify they were bogus, reversed the charges immediately, and sent me a new card. I was pretty impressed.

I been using paypal for a long time. Never had an issue yet. (CROSSING FINGERS!) Not sure of the scams but I am very cautious with any communications unless it is one on one on the phone.
