Is this one of the grandkids you were going to buy the sacks of old Playboys for? Sounds like he is a real chip off the old block.

My grandsons actually wore elbow, knee and head protection while learning to ride bicycles with training wheels in their own driveway....I was personally disheartened when I saw such a brash display of regard for safety...;) Once I collected myself I realized that they were growing up in a world so completely different than the world of my childhood I had better keep my mouth shut. I'm sure their genetics will eventually lead them to brave new worlds.

The oldest has been riding his bicycle about 4 years now. He was recently grounded for racing bicycles with another neighborhood kid down their "big hill". He wasn't wearing his helmet....there may be hope after all..

About the 200 mph Mustang: There has been some serious discussions locally about the accuracy of the OHP's equipment. Even some of our "405" street racers are doubtful of speeds over 160 mph. But who know? If that dumbass kid ever gets his car back he should sell it on eBay as "the world's fastest Mustang". A young Okie's lament: "Hold my slurpee and watch this!"

There is a line of thinking in economics called "risk budgeting". Give a person all this safety gear and they will simply use it to do still crazier things until the risk of negative consequences equals their budget.

I've driven to the max Shelby Cobra, Mach I, home engineered 71 El Camino w/6speed and my 1987 Toyota MR2 and have barely achieved the 160mph wall.
To reach the 200mph range, the vehicle would be in the Nascar Sprint Car class.

Even NASCARs need several flat out laps to get up to that speed. The Kilpatrick Turnpike is only about 9 miles long end to end, with a curve in it, and you would need a couple of those miles to slow down from those speeds.

They probably used the same radar gun they used on me as I coasted my car through Nowata one evening many years ago. Cop was sitting behind the city limit sign just waiting for an out-of-state vehicle to come into view.

If you'd been going fast enough, he wouldn't have been able to ID your outta state plate.

Many states have plates on the front and rear. Kansas only has a plate on the rear. The only exception in Kansas are vanity plates which go on both ends. The stupid thing is the front plate has a message on it that clearly states, "NOT A VALID PLATE". I suppose someone had tried sticking a front plate on the rear of some other vehicle.
