Thanks Paden. Makes sense.
Needs rescuing and placing in a suitable museum.
But then it looks good just there.

It's sitting out in the open, they don't even have it in a barn. The guy said the water pump went out and his dad parked it, so it probably could be brought back to life with minimal work. Not sure I would fit behind the wheel...looks like a very small cab.

What's their past purpose?
Running telephone lines across the country is all that comes to mind, well my wife's. Mine was blank!
These were old oilfield rigs...
As a side note, the derrick truck is not a rotary unit... it's an old ram type. Oil well depths in this vicinity were fairly shallow.
Here is an old newspaper article from 1982 about the man who owned and operated the rig pictured...
Thanks Dave. Interesting read.
Looks like 3 Dodges in the front....but No. 4 might be a 1939 Diamond Reo. Quite a find.
Really. Don't see whitewalls much.
The chevy looks like a '64. My first vehicle was a 64. My dad bought it new just before he died. As far as I knew it was the first vehicle he bought new. I had to wait a few years before I could drive it legally. I wish I would have kept it too.
