My current laptop is a Dell but our I.T. says hp has a better warranty so the replacement will be an hp and it??s on the list so no special government gymnastics to get it.
As you guys know, I'm at least half geek.
And as such, I've built more than a few systems.
I've always had great results with "Gigabyte" motherboards. Reliable and massive bang for buck.
I'm loving my new desktop...
?ÿ
Update:?ÿ Owing, I suppose, to the global supply chain discombobulation, the projected delivery date for my new workstation is January 13 -- 2 months and 11 days from order date.
Well that sucks.?ÿ You make the decision which isn't easy as we are all comfortable with the PC and hate the task of moving to a new one, and now you gotta wait that long.?ÿ Surprised they are booking that far out, you would think they would be pushing product that they have.
?ÿ
Anyway, Carlson used to not recommend the Quadro VCard.?ÿ Has that changed??ÿ I would just think the latest and greatest video would be a good idea, so dont know what the?ÿprevious?ÿissue was.

Fortunately your current unit hasn't completely quit. Score one for proactivity. Hopefully they will beat their ETA.

I always keep the superseded machine in reserve, so I still have the workstation that preceded my current one ready to go if need be.?ÿ All I would have to do is download current files from local or cloud storage, install the security updates that have been released since I last turned it on (a couple years ago), move the hardware dongles over.?ÿ But yeah, I'm hoping that the new one arrives before the current one craps out.

Me too Jim, however I need to clean house of my old machines.?ÿ ?ÿ I out of curiosity last week fired up a 1990's 486 Win 95 desktop with a 1gb hard drive,?ÿ CD-ROM 3.5 floppy, 19k modem for the internet, 19Autocad 11, Pacsoft, Simplicity Survey, TrimVec/TrimNet, Ashtec LineCOMP, Lotus123 and WordPerfect software.?ÿ Bios clock was off?ÿ but fired right up.?ÿ What retirees do for amusement?ÿ when they see an old stored piece of equipment and too much time on their hands and adult beverages consumed.?ÿ Next week I will reprocess some 1988 GPS vectors.?ÿ ?ÿ
@jitterboogie I can do that!?ÿ ?ÿBut I'm not hooking machine up to the internet, it would go through thermonuclear meltdown trying to do Windows updates and security patches since 1991.?ÿ ?ÿI don't even have a land line anymore to hook the modem up to.?ÿ Then we could command line chat using Kermit with a direct connection if you have another modem machine like we did before the internet.?ÿ?ÿ
As long as you have some sort of internet in your place the modem should have an ethernet or phone jack plug on the back to get your old machine connected.
Dude....
Dude!
?ÿ
DUDE!!!
?ÿ
I have a fully functional 1990 Mac Se30 with 48 meg of ram even and 19200b hayes.
?ÿ
Seriously though, I do.

Just show the old tech, with the new tech. Fun times!
Are you all winterized for the season yet?
?ÿ
@jitterboogieyep all ready for winter.?ÿ It comes starting tomorrow.?ÿ Its been snowing but slightly above freezing.?ÿ ?ÿAfter tomorrow I think we won't?ÿ see temperatures above freezing until spring unless its a quick chinook warming.?ÿ ?ÿ
Roger that hadn't seen you post in a while so I figured you were busy fishing or getting ready for winter or a little bit of both.
?ÿ
@jitterboogie the last 6 weeks since @dougie was here I??ve been going 120mph and tach at redline. ?ÿ Two trips up and down Alcan at 3,600 miles a leg, loosing mother in law passing in sleep. ?ÿLast trip I got double pneumonia in Muncho Lake, Canadian Health wouldn??t see me cause I??m Medicare primary, about died in Great Falls cause heart revved up because lungs working Double OT. ?ÿNo urgent care facility would see me because I??m Medicare (I laid out $1k cash begging for a Zpack and refused) and the ER at hospital wouldn??t see me because full of COVID patients. ?ÿI triple medicated with OTC remedies and dragged my ass into the Missouri running about 50% and caught some BIG brown and rainbow trout with the long 2-handed rod. ?ÿ I got seen here and on second week of Zpack and feeling nearly human. ?ÿ Power pulled back and on cruise at 75. ?ÿ
Hell. Deepest condolences To your wife and you for the loss of your MIL. That sucks. At least it was peaceful.
Glad you're on the mend, despite the greatest medical care system in the world was trying to cull you for the better good.
Outstanding to hear you pulled some hawgs out of the Misery. I saw many hawgs in the time I spent on the Beaverhead, but only landed a few of the 18in babies last time there.
Upon visual to field maintain pattern altitude left hand, contact tower upon arrival.
Good day.
