I was flumoxed the other day when I ran into someone who claimed to not like Van Morrison. I wonder if they were thinking Jim Morrison.
Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, to each his own. Even though I don't have any Door's stored on my various devices, I like when I here their music which isn't very often since our local "classic rock" station (or so they claim) has only what appears to be about 15 classic rock songs and more often they are playing Prince or the Bee Gees constantly. Happened to catch the movie couple weeks ago. Depending on how much was actually fact, not added in for entertainment value, he was on weird dude. Meanwhile Van is one of my favorites.
On a different note yet similar note, last week my wife and I were returning from doing a Elev. Cert. and we stopped in at a local BBQ joint and I immediately noticed this old fella sporting a faded ACDC t-shirt and I couldn't help but think to myself that he was "a little old" to be wearing that kind of t-shirt and that is when I realized that he was my age and I am rapidly becoming an old fart.
Like when you hear "comfortably numb" or "Stage fright" on the loudspeaker in the grocery store.
^A couple years ago I heard "I'm Waiting for the Man" by the Velvet Underground while shopping at Trader Joes.

I've enjoyed many different forms of music without caring about the personal life of the artist.
With other musicians, it is their personal life that is played out in their notoriety more than their actual musical talent.
I personally know scores of professional musicians from local bands to worldwide superstars.
Apart from their huge ego, each can be very friendly and thankful during a one on one confrontation and with the flip of a switch turn into a raving maniac when you cross their line in the sand and every one of them have their own degree of diva needs on and off the stage.
Kinda like a "Deadhead" sticker on a Cadillac?

I've worked with 850 or 900 different acts over the years at our arts venue. They range from never-heard-of to world famous filling in an open night in a smaller venue.
I'd say less than 1% of them had an ego that got in the way of a smooth interaction. A few more "stars" were so special their band had to get their instrument tuned and their mic sound checked before they left the bus. Even the most famous usually do their own sound check and are polite in their requests.
Nearly all were just there to get the job done and give a good show.
I have no experience with arena shows, so maybe that crowd is different.
Saw Van Morrison at Montreaux the summer between my junior and senior year in High School (a neighbor had been transferred from the Pentagon to Heidelberg the year before and I wandered around Europe that summer using their house as a base) .?ÿ One of the best concerts I ever saw?ÿ?ÿ
One of my favorite songs:

Might have seen one on a Cadillac in years past but for sure I have seen them on many BMWs.
