For all the baking and cooking she does.

Have any of you got one just sittin in the garage, or storage?

What she wants is a big monster, but, I know she will put it to good use!

Or, if you know where a good deal is to be had.

thanks,

Nate

Try your local restaurant equipment supplier. I got a nice Hobart 20 qt. for around 2k that was in like new condition from a restaurant that had gone under. New at the time they were almost 5k so it was a great deal.

Ya know Nate, you probably should have thought of this before Christmas. You'd have been an even bigger hero than you already are, and likely saved some money in the big picture of life....;-)

Then again, my SWMBO stands quite firm on the concept that she doesn't want anything that she "...has to plug in or share...". Maybe your wife has a similar mindset, and it was her master plan...:-P

Mixing 5 gallons of anything by hand should keep her slim, firm and healthy. Get her a 5 gallon stainless steel bowl with a hold down device and an entrenching tool. Save some money and show her you want to keep her around and healthy.

And no telling where that "entrenching tool" will wind up.

Why don't you just have your wife find one that will sit her needs. Seems to me that there is just too much bureaucracy in your home?

OK, update fellas...

I googled a number of classifieds and found one that is about 30 yrs old. It sat in a shed for 20 something years. The gear box is tight. Has a wisk, paddle, and dough hook.

Wife wanted a HOBART. (Just like the one listed above, on ebay, but probably less wear) According to her research, the ones with a belt drive, are not as good for whole wheat bread, due to heavy loads. So, we got a fine Hobart, with a Pelican Chopper, at a quite reasonable price. Had to drive nearly 190 miles for it though.

It needs a new cord, and a good cleaning, but she is as happy as:

A pig in the sunshine.

A surveyor, with an original Section corner.

Or a Baptist with a chicken leg.

She is sleeping in, and wants me to get her a truckload of ingredients to place in the mixer!

🙂

Thanks everybody.

Now, I gotta go do some work.

Nate

Thanks for teh sentiments... that's funny! Just remember, women usually need about 1-2 hrs more sleep than we men do! If she also had access to a rolling pin, I could be in danger!

I have the finest wife in the world. She would have married me with a 30 dollar ring, and a kiss.

That's not what I did, but she is truly a dream woman. All I could ask for, and alot more.

So, getting her a mixer, is right up there with paying the electric bill... it's important!

🙂

if it's ok with the family, you can have it. let me double check. remember, it is a little smaller than you want, but completely stainless and has survived decades of use. really looks good
