I [mistakenly] decided to give my mouse inards a good cleaning out. Lots of desktop crud had wadded up in the optical sensor making it jerky. BIG MISTAKE!!!
Today's mice are not as simple as they used to be. Just trust me on that one.
There are 2 tiny springs around the scroll wheel. One gives you that "click" effect and the other holds the wheel in place.
After a good solid hour I managed to figure out how one goes back on. The one that does the click - God help me. So I just taped it to the computer desk and maybe one day I'll have a vision. Not this evening.
So I just put the thing back together in hopes it still works. Thank goodness!! I will say I don't mind having a smooth scroll wheel.

mouse - DO NOT TAKE IT APART!!! ...BIGE

I [mistakenly] decided to give my CAT inards a good cleaning out.

Had difficulty working out how to extract fingers from cat’s throat due to clinched teeth and intense scratching of my arms.

Definitely would not recommend!

Currently taped cat to table to ponder ......At least no pesky springs ......

LOL

Been there...Done that. I managed to figure out both springs but couldn't explain it if I had to.

My mechanical ineptitude epiphany was with the heater control on a 1965 VW Bug. If anybody remembers it was a faucet style knob in between the front seats.

175 precision machined German parts (150 of them were springs), assembled at the Garcia Fishing Reel company.

The heater never worked again.

May be that I'm prying here, but how do you have money for an internet connection and not $8? It would seem that your maslow pyramid is upside down.

Just a question

Send him one of those spare mouses that you have laying around the office and he might tell you.

Jeff

Is it mouses or mice? I just don't know.

🙂

FWIW, when they die, they are filed in file 13. The one I have now is 8 years old and getting contrary.

🙂

I do some internet stuff/programming for someone who pays that bill - no cash.
Without getting into details, I'm hard core - you don't pay, I don't do anything.
I'm also a "paid" tutor for another friend - beer and smokes, no cash.
I'd be super happy to go back in the field again. Don't get me wrong.
