Seriously? Guess I'll be waiting to set on to hi-rail.
I guess that is the AVRR. Do trains still run on those tracks in that area? I know there is a lawsuit going on about the ROW, whether it is an easement, but that pertains to the abandoned section closer to the river, I believe.

Can they not be towed for parking there? If they were, it wouldn't take long for the message to get out.
Why didn't you just hook a chain to it and drag it out of the way? With that much snow and presumably ice, should have been an easy move.
Yes that is the AVRR between 25th and 26th in the Strip. We do run a train on it down that far every once in a while, but mostly north of there nightly. And yes there are some legal issues going on.
They were towed about 30 minutes later. Parking is bad in that part of the city, so people risk it I guess. We've had our signs torn down numerous times. This is pretty much a daily thing.
Could it be that someone was hoping to sell their Cherokee to the insurance company today?
I thought that was where it was. I did a topo and hydro for the Cork Factory there. I remember there being an old easement of some kind between the building and the river.
That picture reminds me of something that happened to me when I was in college, probably late 70's. We were in Oil City at a friend's house for a weekend party. We went into town (in a rental car-a Camaro) to get some more beer. My buddy in the passenger seat (long since deceased) tells me loudly "turn here, you missed it"...so I turned, and landed straddling the railroad tracks. So, we get out, and here comes a train. Fortunately the train was going very slow, they stopped and got down from the engine and started yelling at us. Had to wait for a tow truck. Then, we went back around the block and parked on the street. I opened the door without looking, and a passing car hit the open door. I got a ticket for "opening a door into traffic". Wasn't the best weekend I ever had. I think I won 'Moron of the day" that day!
It might seem that way, but probably not. Just looking for free parking.
the topo was interesting....
The area we topo'd had a lot of interesting items. Here is a drawing showing a Duquesne Light conduit going under the Allegheny River. Note the 66" Alcosan interceptor at 90' depth, and the old railroad on top of the "seawall". That is, i think, the railroad ROW being disputed.
We don't need no stinking chain! We used a 454 Chevy truck to push a Subaru out of the way at a Nascar race once. He and a bunch of other cars had made a third row and we were in the middle row. We checked his doors, but they were locked and the emergency brake was on. So we just eased up the Chevy to his bumper and pushed him out into the entry road.
Can't wait to see the afterwards photo.
Nothing to exciting.
