You have to forgive Squirltech. His lowely family tree roots reach back to pre-Civil War Texas. North Carolina before that. There was even a ransom involved.

In my opinion anybody who keeps a squirrel (they can bite like hell and scratch worse than a woman) as a pet ain't got all his oars in the water.
This reminds me of Paden for some reason. 😉

*clears throat*

Well, @Holy Cow , I grew up with my dad calling me quirrel (because I was his gopher when he had his mechanics shop) but gopher was too "mainstream" so he took to calling me squirrel. Then I began playing drums and the correct spelling of squirrel was too long to go on our shirts so I shortened it to Squirl. Then I began working as a technician at a local engineering firm and that's where the "tech" came from. It only seemed fitting to meld the two together and therefore we now have Squirltech.

It's been a handle of mine for years now.

@FL/GA PLS. I am a drummer in a band but not the same band as the drummer I've used for my avatar.

Actually, I've never been "scratched" by a woman, but some of the fingernail lengths I've seen on 'em could certainly cause significant serious superficial wounds.
And I have been bitten and scratched all to hell and back thanks to a squirrel I caught in my youth. 😎

Spent the afternoon in the ALCO CH investigating two jobs near Walter Johnson's birthplace, one next to Ray's metal depot and one in the midst of the Carlyle/Gas/Bayard/Mildred metroplex.

Never underestimate the viciousness and cunning of a squirrel.

Their little acorn brains have no room for fear.

We had a local police officer a few years back that responded to a "mad squirrel" call from a homeowner barricaded in her house. Sure enough, when the responding officer arrived (before animal control could make it) he was met and attacked in the yard by a very angry squirrel. Repeated efforts by the officer to calm the little tree rat failed and the officer suffered some clawing and nips on his leg. He was forced to draw his service revolver and put most of the squirrel all over the driveway. He was adamant the squirrel was probably rabid.

Post-mortem examination determined the squirrel was not rabid, but apparently just "really, really pissed off".

I believe it. I was at attacked in my outhouse by a squirrel squatter in my early 'homestead' years. Caught me with my pants down. He was vicious and I was forced to defend myself. The outhouse soon had added ventilation. Emptied 2 hefty sacks of his dried mushrooms and whatnot he'd cached in there for winter. He was just defending it, but I had to go somewhere and he was unwilling to negotiate a truce.

I could be wrong but in England the introduced gray squirrel is regarded as a pest and responsible for the demise of the native red squirrel and the law says that if you catch a gray squirrel it is illegal to release it back into the wild. So that narrows its future options to pet, security, or a long sleep at the same elevation as its nuts.
