How do you calc the snow rate when it's coming in sideways?
At least it's not our usual January ice storm.

Good Luck, Brace yourselves.

> Seems like it may be time to just spend some of the vacation time ...

Ditto.

I think we are on the edge of it. Supposed to get about 3-5 inches here at home. Upwards of 6-8 inches total in Des Moines. South & East sounds much worse (feet).

:rain:*snow* :bad:

Woke to thunder, lightning and hard blowing rain that the thunderhead disrupted cable for about an hour until I could see view the radar.

It is 55±F here. The freeze line is just to the north and runs southwest into central Texas.

Tomorrow morning it is expected to be in the 20s.

Have enough paperwork to keep me busy this week, so I am staying by the fire.

Have 2" of snow, sleet, & ice on the ground, they are calling for 4"-8" more of the combo crap, the next 24 hours.

Good Luck, Brace yourselves.

> I also just heard that Dallas-Fortworth int. is currently close due to storm. Makes me wonder how many empty seats will be in The stadium for the superbowl.

Cheeseheads thrive in this weather. It will be just like home.

Slowly increasing a few degrees every day...should be 59° F and sunny by Friday.

Looking forward to a nice weekend. Planted some lawn grass this weekend, expect to see it sprouting by Saturday. I believe it will be 55° by noon today. Not a cloud in the sky.

Yes, they do.

So do Steeler fans.

but...... unfortunately airplanes don't thrive in these conditions, nor do many other forms of travel.

Drove through 5" to Cooperstown for a level run and a field check. It's only winter and the bills don't stop when the weather gets bad. Time to suck it up and get to it.

Sounds like tomorrow will be the snow day. Email through the 'droid and mapping via VPN.

Currently 14, feels like -10. Supposed to be around 10-12" of snow out there, but, it's either 2" deep or 4' deep. Took the 4WD pickup to the road and back a few times just to irritate the wife. Incredibly, our idiot mailman actually made it around his full route. We are about the fourth house from the very end of his day. Tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 10 and a low of -10 Thursday A.M. But, the high winds will continue throughout.

@ Gunman

Not by choice. My vote is never counted...really sucks 🙁

For those wanting to know....Northern Calif.

I may have gotten a slight sun burn today out at the airport...you know the kind where it is not really hot, but really sunny. Almost like a snow burn....only nicer.

@ Gunman

Tuesday night, low pressure will move to between Toledo and Cleveland Ohio placing West Michigan in the heaviest snowfall accumulations. Amounts will range from ten inches over the extreme northwest counties to as much as 20 inches generally along and just south of I-96/I-196. The heaviest snow, highest winds, and lowest visibilities will occur between midnight and 8 am Wednesday. Winds will be northeast at 15-30 mph with gusts to over 40 mph. Extensive blowing and drifting snow, especially the east-west roads, will occur. Temperatures will be in the low to mid teens with winds chills around 0 to -5°.

I picked up an extra half-gallon of Evan-Williams, so I'm all set!

Hanauma Bay - Jered Tips

> Go early. Seems that place can get a bit busy but well worth it.
>
> When your not in a nice secured (or the feeling of a secured) state park here is a little trick I have learned in my snorkeling travels. Take a dry bag everywhere. I throw the keys and wallet in it, and tow it along as we are snorkeling. This way I usually leave the car windows down and don't worry about someone walking off with my stuff. Its also nice way to carry other essentials. IE... snorkel for a long while then stop on a rock outcrop and have a beer!:-)

Jered, thanks for the tips!! Your ideas also had me thinking to take extra bags for wet & dry items and sandy items. ABC supplied plenty of them. The bags worked out great at Hanauma and I didn't wind up with sand in not-so-enjoyable places. 😐

I bought snorkel gear yesterday @ Costco. Now I don't have to rent anymore crappy stuff; I gots me own! I'm going to go and try it out later today. Too bad there's no where in Oregon for us to snorkel w/o freezing. It would be a blast!! :hi5:
