Bought a new computer because nothing will run on a 32 bit machine anymore.
Trying to install my 2008 Land Desktop and it requires an Authenication Code to be fully installed I called AutoCad for the code and they don't know what I'm talking about. They told me it's not supported anymore and I would have to pay full price for a 2021 program.
Anyone have an Authenication Code I could try and see if it works?
?ÿ
I'm thinking that LDT2004 was the last version that used Authcodes. After that it was internet registration.?ÿ

I'm pretty sure that authentication (authorization?) codes are locked to the software serial number, so it's unlikely that someone else's code would work with your installation.
Sounds like AutoCAD got me again. I figured that was the case. I read the authorization though and as long as I use it on one machine there is no limit. I may have to pressure AutoCad a little more.
Yes that's the problem. You have to contact them for the Authenication Code that now days they know nothing about. Buy a new one is their solution and they won't give any discount.
Fortunately I do have Carlson that I couldn't use because it was only for 64 bit machines.
Not really related, but back in the 90's when I worked at a NY County, the IT guy was installing Microsft Office on my computer. When he got to the point of entering the Authorization code, he was just staring at the code and mumbling something. When he was done he said "Yup, multiple of 7" and just entered 7's for the code and was given access. One of those beautiful minds, I guess.
I think you can try taking it to a computer technical expert. There they can make an image of the old computer hard drive onto the new computer and bypass the installation process. I may not be remembering correctly, but I thought that is what happened when I had an old computer that was failing. The computer experts put together a new machine and transferred the contents of the old one.?ÿ
My IT tech tells me you can't do that with an XP computer to a Windows 10 computer, but he's not the best tech I ever ran into. I'm going to look into exploring that avenue.
Thanks for the post!
Years ago while hanging on to good ole autocad ldd, I had my computer guru copy my my hard drive and install on a windows xp system I purchased from him just for autocad ldd and it didn't work.?ÿ When I opened ldd it immediately asked for an authorization code.?ÿ I had the old code from my autocad software and it didn't work.?ÿ Called Autodesk and they said Autocad LDD was no longer supported and there was nothing I could do.
Ultimately I bite the bullet and subscribed to Civil3D and learned on the go.?ÿ A huge pain in the a$$.?ÿ But now I'm proficient enough to be efficient.?ÿ However I think LDD was a much better software for the surveyor.?ÿ Civil3D is lacking many routines that I took for granted in LDD.
?ÿ
I don't want to hear that. Looks like I'm headed down that path also, but not with 3D, I've got Carlson to learn to be efficient with.
Perhaps he is right. The computer experts transferred the contents of the old hard drive onto a computer they made. So, it still runs the same Windows XP (the operating system) like the old computer.
I'm still hanging on to LDD. After paying nearly $8000 for the software with all the modules I find I have no need, nor do I have the money for upgrades. The Windows XP machine that I had made for me cost $650 and it does everything I need it to do. I have the authorization codes, but I do not remember having to use them once the software was copied, but it was a long time ago. So, maybe I'm wrong.?ÿ
Learn Carlson and you will learn to love it.?ÿ I hated it at first because it was learning something different.?ÿ Now, I cringe whenever I have to use C3D for a client or inter-office deliverable.
?ÿ
Carlson is starting to act like Autodesk sometimes, too.?ÿ I've had install problems where I've had to call support.?ÿ But they were usually pretty good about everything.
Their support is great. I bought Carlson 2021 and went to load it. I found out it only works on 64 bit computers. Mine is 32 bit. That's where this debace started. Carlson support sent me a 2019 version that works on 32 bit computers that I can use until my new computer is up and running.
Good deal.?ÿ I'm glad they made it work for you.?ÿ That's customer service

The problem I ran into is that newer software and printer and plotter drivers will not work on an older 32 bit computer. Right now windows 10 will operate on 32 or 64, but I'm betting one day it will update automatically and nothing will work because your computer isn't 62 bit.
