It??s going to be a below average snowfall year in NW Montana- how that translates to the rest of y??all is up for debate. Probably record low snowfall- I know because after living out here on this place since 2001, I finally convinced SWMBO to let me get a plow ?ÿsince I??m home more now- so that will most likely mean it??s probably not going to see any use. My apology in advance for any hardships you may incur due to my jinxing the planet.?ÿ
I'm buying a snow blower this year for the first time, my old back can't take another winter like the last three, so I expect to see almost no snow.
Here is the forecast from the National Weather Service, I suppose I could change it by going down to Big R and getting the Blower.
WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches possible. Highest accumulations along the foothills. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph creating blowing and drifting snow. * WHERE...Portions of North Central Wyoming and Central and South Central Montana. * WHEN...From late Tuesday night through Thursday morning. Rain will transition quickly to snow Tuesday night. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
Expect a high almost to 80 degrees tomorrow,,,,,,,,,,,then turning to snow????ÿ That's mean weather.
I dunno about you guys forecasts, I just know I am supposed to go on my twice yearly horseback riding vacation Thursday.?ÿ They just updated the forecast.?ÿ 93 degrees Wednesday.?ÿ Low Thursday night 32 degrees, 25% chance of precipitation.?ÿ I am damn sure making sure the coffee pot gets packed!!
About 35 years ago our silly school district decided to buy snow blowers to assist the custodial staff.?ÿ One school requested one.?ÿ The silliness at the time meant that if one school received something, all of the others needed to get the same thing.
First, we rarely get enough snow to really require a great deal of shoveling.?ÿ Second,?ÿ each school had different amounts of areas that might benefit from a snow blower.?ÿ Thus, a snow blower was purchased for one school that had less than 200 feet of total sidewalk.?ÿ The lady custodian was a small gal and could barely wrestle that thing around on a dry, snow-free surface.?ÿ It took more time and work to utilize the snow blower than to do it with a big broom and smallish snow shovel.?ÿ She attempted to use it about three times and then gave up.?ÿ When that school was closed, they moved the nearly-new snow blower to the superintendent of schools office building.?ÿ The area of use was about 30 feet by 10 feet.?ÿ It took longer to fire it up, get it from the backroom on the alley, walk it half way around the block and back than it took to actually use it on that little front sidewalk.
Well I for one would like see snow butt hole deep to a tall giraffe as I have some painting to do.
Snow blowers are coveted items with all my in-laws in Wisconsin.?ÿ Some of them have three or four (why? I don't know...).?ÿ One of my wife's cousins has a corner of his garage dedicated to them like a mini-museum.?ÿ His prize possession is his deceased father's very old Gravely with a 16 HP electric start Kohler.?ÿ It's even fitted with a plug-in block heater for those extra cold mornings.?ÿ?ÿ
I've heard every story he tells about using the old "Grave" for clearing the drive when he was a tadpole.?ÿ The proper response is always, "She's a beaut, eh?".?ÿ 😉
Dang -I??m supposed to be going to Glasgow Tuesday-Wednesday- hoping it stays south of that.
I've got Ohio covered.?ÿ It hasn't really snowed down here since I bought an Ariens snow blower two years ago.
good luck, I would think the hi-line would be your path. The really bad stuff is going to be here and east towards the black hills, but I think Glasgow will see it too.
I was supposed to head south towards Denver, I canned the trip. ?ÿ
The updated forecast:
Total snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches, with localized heavier amounts.
My back deck yesterday:
Fingers crossed that the trees hold up, I will be driving through town only using approved routes for a couple of days, streets without cottonwood trees. ?????ÿ
In Texas, we just turn the Dish Washer into a Snow Thrower!
Give her a shovel and tell her to git after it!
hehehehehe....
just don't tell my wife I said that
I see no mention of dishwashing or snow throwing in this classic song.
?ÿ
Cook me up some bacon and some beans.
And go out to the car and change the tire.
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans.
Come on, baby, you can fill my pipe,
And then go fetch my slippers.
And boil me up another pot of tea.
Then put another log on the fire, babe,
And come and tell me why you're leaving me.
Don't I warn you when you're gettin fat?
Ain't I a-gonna take you fishin' with me someday?
Well, a man can't love a woman more than that.
Ain't I always nice to your kid sister?
Don't I take her driving every night?
So, sit here at my feet 'cause I like you when you're sweet,
And you know it ain't feminine to fight.
Cook me up some bacon and some beans.
Go out to the car and lift it up and change the tire.
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans.
Come on, baby, you can fill my pipe,
And then go fetch my slippers.
And boil me up another pot of tea.
Then put another log on the fire, babe,
And come and tell me why you're leaving me.
The mere thought of a little frozen stuff around here makes people leave the highway and hit a tree in my yard or ramp over one of my two driveways.
I guess it's late enough in the year to break out "snow jokes"..so here goes:
It snowed hard all day.?ÿ My wife just stood for hours and stared through the kitchen window.?ÿ I finally felt sorry and let her in.
YOU GUYS SAID THE *S* WORD!! ???ý?ÿ
I like the word in the middle of sNOw. I hope we don't get a bunch here this winter. ????ÿ
Last year, it snowed where my family lives in Tucson. They were whining! Meanwhile, in Oregon, we were warmer than they were. How ironic. ????
?ÿ
There was the guy in Wisconsin who retired, and people asked about his plans.?ÿ He told them, "I'm going to sell the house, pack the car, tie the snow shovel on top, and drive south until somebody asks what that thing is. That's where I'm going to retire."

For any of y??all that thought I was kidding- this is my front yard 15 minutes ago.... the deer are relieved I bought a plow....
Mildest winter in years. Only had to wear jeans 4 times so far. And if I were you or Paden I wouldn't give up my daytime job just yet..... ????
