Curiosity killed the cat, they say. ?ÿMy upcoming 1300 mile one-way trip to Florida caused me to think about how many other States would be closer. ?ÿSo I brought up GoogleEarth and used the tool to measure miles (as the crow flies) from my house in all directions ?ÿ The following list is the TOTAL number of States that I could get to (if I were a crow) at each distance.
100 miles = 4
200 miles = 6
300 miles = 8
400 miles = 15
500 miles = 19
600 miles = 24
700 miles = 30
800 miles = 33
900 miles = 37
1000 miles = 37
1100 miles = 40
More than that to get the 6 New England states plus Oregon and Washington. ?ÿAlaska and Hawaii, too, of course.

At rock City near Chattanooga they claim you can see 7 states. I don't think it is possible. You do stand in Georgia and are 1/2 mile from Tennessee. Alabama is 20 miles in another direction but the view is blocked by vegetation. North Carolina might be visible, but Kentucky, South Carolina and Virginia are not.?ÿ?ÿ
Near White Cloud, Kansas, very close to the northeast corner of the state, one can see Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska almost every day plus Iowa on a clear day.
