You know how you get symptoms sometimes, a cold, the flu, something like that? And people say "Oh yeah, that's been going around."
Well, you know what? There's always something "going around," isn't there? Sometimes you catch it, sometimes you don't.
What makes the difference whether you get sick or not?
Karma.
Not dogma. Karma.
I was impatient, practically mean, to an in-law guest over the holidays. This is a person, a brother-in-law, for whom I have no respect, leave it at that, but I was not always nice to him.
Sure, I can claim that I was provoked, and I was, but, really, whose fault is that? Right. Mine.
So the upshot is that there is something going around and I've got it. No one else around me, just me.
I blame myself.

I don't recall being mean to anyone lately, but I still got slammed with 24-hour headache a couple of days ago that had me hatin' life. My wife had it a few days before (though hers lasted for 2-1/2 days). I've never had something like that before, and I hope never to have it again.
I had it for over 3 days. I still haven't eaten today.
I feel better but have no desire to eat after puking so much.
Still have a headache. I had a flu shot too.
You just have to ride it out...
There seems to be two things going around:
First, a 24 hour stomach bug (that my in-laws just had) that forces liquids out of your body in two uncomfortable ways. Also included as a bonus, uncontrollable swings in body temperatures, sweating and chills and a lack of desire to eat for two days. The rebound for this takes about 4 days. Fyi, you're still contagious for three days after you feel better.
Second, a nagging, persistent flu that lasts several days and a cough that hangs around for a week afterwards. My wife had this, complete with 100 degree fever for three days.. I managed to avoid it for the most part.
I believe firmly that the difference in getting sick and not getting sick is exposure to other germs throughout the year. I like to say I'm one step above a homeless person. I eat/drink anything I want, don't worry about germs, and NEVER use hand sanitizer.. I also never get sick.
I used to think that, too, csnoke, until the last fews years. While my son was going through leukemia treatments, our lifestyle became one of hermits. We did everthing possible to limit exposure to him and ourselves when it came to contact with others who were sick. We handwashed regularly, used sanitizer, and didn't eat much food prepared by others. We had to. I don't think I was sick ONCE in that three year period. Now that he's off treatment (and doing well! thank you), we don't fanatically protect ourselves and are back to getting colds, etc. Some habits die hard, though, and we still find ourselves sanitizing more, etc. Some things disgust us now that didn't before, like people licking fingers while eating and coughing in their hand.
Had not been sick in 20 years right after Thanksgiving got hit with the Flu put me on my back for 3 days . I could not even sit up, slept for 2 days solid . Went through my hole house except my oldest son . Not fun Took two weeks to be able to feel OK .
