I want to be a surveyor that doesn't have to go to business development meetings, is not part of strategic planning mission discussions, one that doesn't have to deal with resource manager email chains that never end, and a surveyor who is not constantly invited to meetings to discuss upcoming meetings.
I want to go the the office (or open an email), grab a scope of services package (contract, etc.), project location and come back with a completed project ready to plot and file, record. I want to be your expert in the field, a trusted foot soldier capable of getting any task complete, I want to be able to train and mentor young field hands. For a lack of better term - I want to be your Chief Warrant Office - CW5. Willing to work in Missouri, Arkansas and Kentucky. Heck I'll work anywhere in the US, if you get me there. Land, hydro, LiDAR, boundary, topo, calcs, staking, drafting - no problem.
Does this job exist?
And it's only Monday.
Rant off.
It's OK. The first five days after the weekend are the hardest.
So you want my job
Many have tried, none have lasted.

Yes, I do.
You want to be a party chief.
If you get by my neck of the woods, we can visit, maybe reach some kind of agreement....
I was where you are and took a significant pay cut to work with surveys all day with no direct reports. My question would be can you have a good income and maintain a good quality of life?
Sounds like you need to open your own shop. Best thing I've ever done. I choose which jobs get done when. No staff meetings and I get to choose which types of work I take on. Much less stress and better schedule!

Oh so true, so true.
