Quite frankly, I do not NEED Larry and Moe.

I have my other brother Daryl and Larry already as support personnel. That is plenty enough.

I suffered for years with terminal hat hair. Decided to go to a flat top but getting one done in VT. is next to impossible. Mostly lady barbers here who have trained in the beauty parlor tradition. In Florida I have never had a bad flat top. Last year in FL. a lady who had done military haircuts for years was all over me in about 5 minutes and I was out the door with the best flat top ever.
So much for the old song about not getting your haircut while out of town.

Dave,

You may want to consider a name tag at the next chapter meeting...just saying.

Here come old flat top
He come groovin' up slowly
He got jew jew eyeballs
He want holy rollers
He got hair down to his knees
Got to be a joker
He just do what he please

Oh yeah. Love that tune.

Been mowing my own melon for about ten years...

As my hairline raced to the back of my head in my 40s, the ponytail just looked goofy(ER). 40 years of sun, rain, hard miles (and smoking) later, there is no hope for looking "good" no matter what I do!

I dunno Dave...I use a 1/8 inch rake, so you look like you need a haircut (to me).

Dave,

Shame on you!

You neglected to pluck your eyebrows and trim your nose hairs! (While you're at it, don’t forget the ear hairs).;-) 🙂

Have a great week!

I haven't had hair long enough to part or comb in about 23 years. In the late 80's I had the typical "Chachi hair" (part in the middle - feathered I think they called it). I went to work for a surveyor friend of my dad in the summer of 1988 in WV and it was just too danged hot for me. I asked Dad where he got his hair cut, and he sent me to his barber, an old Army barber, and he mowed it down with a #3 clipper. Well, I wasn't that happy with it at the time, but I have never had it long again. I kept a high n' tight flat top in the early 90's, but it looked awful on my round head, so I bought a pair of clippers and have not paid for a haircut since then. I also shave it down with a blade sometimes, but not always.

One bad side effect of always keeping my hair short is if it gets too long, the natural oils in my hair (we all have them, even if you have dry hair) overwhelm and bother my eyes.... think of like petting a cat and then rubbing it in your eyes. I can tell when it's time to give myself a trim at that point.

I go thru phases with cutting my hair

Searching for a barber or stylist is a personal quest to find that trustworthy sole that can transform you from bland to at least normal on a bad day.

It can be an endless search as some cutters just want to gab away and forget when to stop cutting and gabbing.

Every town has their Mr Buzzcut, his only style is Flattop. Grew up as a kid with either a Flattop from the barber or a Burr(clipper cut with no comb)from grandfather and if you moved he would nip your ear.

Then I find this well referred magician that looks at my head for 10min, makes a half dozen well planned cuts and ala, a haircut that lasts until I shampoo my hair and needs that $40 touch again.

Then there is the day I just go to the morning mirror and pull out the clippers, put on a 3/4in comb and minutes later, I am normal again and can face the world.

I like short hair and would love to cut out the barber, but I can never get the lower back right. I can't stand the way hair looks growing on the back of the neck (unless covered up by long hair).

Anyone remember the name of the guy with the really deep voice that opened the door and played the harpsichord on The Addams Family?

Are you suggesting that Dave resembles Lurch?

I've been doing that for years!! saved a ton of dough. I occasionally break out the razor and shaving cream too. Just did that before new years eve. I usually just run the clippers with no guide at all. I have my wife give it the once over to make sure I didn't miss anything. I'm pretty good these days.

I just got tired of paying 15-25 dollars to some guy for something I could do just as well by myself. Besides, it let's my wife have all of the haircair budget, and saves on shampoo. everybody's happy!
