and i'll cheat and throw some work-related stuff in here.

i'm done for 2020.?ÿ title company just called and let me off the hook for today's deadline on this university campus survey.?ÿ whatever snag put the kibosh on their tax year thing, so i can now go take a nap instead of trying to get this done today.

7300+ shots, 300 acres, over 4 miles of boundary- 3ish of which are under a conservation easement which meant a whole lot of hiking gear through untouched brush.?ÿ 8 buildings (4 of which don't have a right angle anywhere), 2 dorms, and 2 NCAA level sports facilities.?ÿ 2500+/- parking spots.?ÿ 45 title exceptions. 4 guys, 6 days a week, 9-10 hours a day.?ÿ 2-3 hours of data dumps and drafting each evening.

things were kind of slow at thanksgiving, i thought "aw, hell, this'll be a nice way to end the year."?ÿ turns out it's gonna be the way to start the year.?ÿ thinking i have another 5-6 hours to get this thing cleaned up, reviewed, and out the door.

it's been a great year for me personally.?ÿ hope y'all haven't had it too bad.?ÿ i have a couple different friends who've lost children and parents this year suddenly and unexpectedly.?ÿ if there was someway to give up all the good i've had this year and give it to them i would in a heartbeat.?ÿ anyways, cheers, happy new year, hope 2021 is nicer for humanity as a whole.

@jitterboogie

indeed- here's the back line of the property, headwaters of one of our local holy grails.?ÿ the tract is bounded on all sides by city owned conservation tracts, all under game fence, the restrictions are nuts.?ÿ this land was subject of a federal lawsuit that saw it shut down to development.?ÿ couple thousand acres of nearly untouched land (the city has acquired it in pieces over the past 30 years, the game fence went up about 15 years ago).?ÿ the college actually traded their old downtown campus for this- it was formerly the tech headquarters of an oilfield services company that bailed out of town.?ÿ was built out in the 80s over about 50 acres, subsequently the vast majority went under easement and so it was like a goldmine trade for this school.?ÿ there are archaelogical sites scattered all over the place, it's the habitat of a couple species of endangered birds.?ÿ i platted a big subdivision to the southeast of it about 10 years ago and knew what this was- probably the main reason i took the job (instead of an easy december) was just to be able to set foot on it.?ÿ closed to the public, and the school can only get a handful of people on it each year.

but as to the momentum: i guess!?ÿ this week i had 4 proposals come back that i'd forgotten about (months old).?ÿ now i'm looking at being booked solid through march and the phone is still ringing like crazy.?ÿ kind of at that critical spot of either saying "no" a whole lot more or else taking the leap and moving this operation out of the house and trying to find somebody who can hold down an office full time...

Glad to hear you had a great year. It has been one for the books for sure!

I've been sitting on my butt for weeks on end. I've about had enough of this working from home BS. We've been slow since T-Day, which is kinda normal as things tend to wind down for the year, but seriously I'm ready to get out in the field and work, do some drafting or something!?ÿ

Here's to a better year - who know's what 2021 will have in store for us??ÿ

A blessing on everyone for the new year.?ÿ And please be safe this evening.?ÿ

I'm thinking of kicking up my heels tonight and doing a couple of loads of laundry.

@paden-cash

First load is going now.?ÿ Not enough for two loads so I threw the "loaded" jeans in with the delicates to see which would come out in better shape.

@holy-cow

I'm pretty much the laundry boy around here.?ÿ But "Improper Co-mingling of Laundry" is a serious offense punishable by verbal disapproval and nasty looks from my better half.?ÿ So then I just let her laundry pile up.?ÿ

When she complains about having to do a load or two of her own stuff I always tell her, "Don't feel bad, I have to do my own laundry around here too".

She never sees my humor..
