I also have a dorag that has a cooling pad across the forehead.

Mine came from Stanco, a local company that makes and provides safety clothing worldwide.

And a froggtogg chilly bean hat

So I went shopping for hats and checked out the Tilley hats but after considerable wailing and gnashing of teeth I decided to buy two of the Columbia Bora Bora Boonies.

The Tilly appeared to be a great hat but it also appeared to be hotter. The Columbia is synthetic whereas my current crop of boonies are 100% cotton and just absorb sweat like mad. So hopefully the new ones will breath better and keep me cooler.

While youƒ??re changing to a synthetic hat, Iƒ??ll make another suggestion. Other than my socks, Iƒ??ve gone completely polyester. Wicking shirts, pants, and underwear. Can be sweating like a pig and the slightest breeze feels like air conditioning. Windows down in the truck and can dry off on the way to the next job whereas cotton will stay wet all day.

all my trousers, shirts and underwear are synthetic as are my belts. Socks are still cotton though and will remain so.

Until today I had not considered a synthetic hat.

I wear long sleeve button down Magellan shirts, that is the Academy Sports version of Columbia shirts. And you're correct about the breeze.

I am always afraid of synthetic melting on top of my head and on my body in the late summer Texas sun.

Not gonna happen. I moved away from cotton years ago. I noticed all the little Mexican fellas always wore long sleeve shirts on construction sites and they always sweated like mad because they were all cotton & that got me to studying a bit. I alway knew long sleeves were recommended for prevention of skin cancer but summertime heat and humidity made it unbearable.?ÿ So I discovered the lightweight Columbia style shirts and Tru-Spec pants. I actually buy and have well over a dozen of the Magellan Brand which is a Columbia knock-off.

They dry quickly and if a breeze hits the shirts it has a cooling effect.

Now the downside: they are more expensive than cheap cotton shirts and trousers. AND, the shirts do not have the abrasion resistance as cotton shirts do. With cotton shirts you can bulldog your way through rough stuff with little problem. Not so with the synthetic shirts as they tend to snag.

So I work smarter not dumber.

One of my Party Chief's just bought one of these at Amazon. Said it works excellent so far. We are in the sun all day on construction sites like "Forest Hills" which doesn't have a single "hill" or tree on 433 acre site so it's in the sun all day. Built in solar fan!

It is amazing that people still say the "r" word, let alone put it in print on a message board.

What is that quote...."better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt". I think that applies pretty well here.

What amazes me is that people are so bloody hyper sensitive of everything these days and are so caught up in virtue signalling how WOKE they are that they are incapable of seeing the humor I was poking at myself.

Now go away and do not bother me anymore with your faux outrage and go whine to our local barista at the coffee shop to get your outrage on.?ÿ

It's is likely that that you may have underestimated the intelligence of readers here. I think that your self deprecating humor comment was noticed by ALL. But by using a derogatory term for a person with a disability doesn't make it okay or funny. (Unless your posting to middle school age level or some demented codgers who behave like middle schoolers that couldn't care less).
I know and do sympathize that one can not foretell when and where will it?ÿ all end and what is next on the list. But that's life and it's why there are signposts along the way.

I realized you were poking fun at yourself, but in no way found humor in the post. Would you have made the same "joke" in front of a person with a form of intellectual disability? Doubtful.?ÿ

We may be demented and behave like middle schoolers but we sure as hell know how to laugh and enjoy life. In your eyes we are a bunch of idiots, I know from first person experience, but as hard as it may be to digest we possess am overflowing cornucopia of wisdom far superior to yours. ???? ??§ ?ÿ

Any grown man that still throws around words like that isn't worth the effort, but it sure seals the deal when he turns into a whiny baby when he gets called out for it.?ÿ
