The way you tell the men from the boys?ÿ

Is mainly by the price of the toys.

If the Omega 36 is what Google found, that's a lot of money in a small package.

Ok, I canƒ??t make sense of this. Just what is an Omega 36 and why do you need a tax stamp for it. Knowing you itƒ??s probably some sort of mechanical device that can deliver projectiles at a million feet per second and makes a loud noise. ?????ÿ

Ah! And here I thought Rankin bought himself a new Omega Seamaster model that I hadn't heard of since the "Planet Ocean" was released. ?????ÿ

@flga-2 Perhaps you're thinking of the Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator?

There's a groundswell that silencers protect hearing in hunting and range shooting situations so is a good idea, not so much at the range where you can wear ear muffs but when hunting I've suffered ear damage from firing deer caliber rifles.?ÿ?ÿ

When hunting I use the commonly available safety ear plugs, not the foam ones that you have to squeeze and mold, but these ones. Just have them around your neck all day, ready for when the shooting starts. In addition to being 100 times more comfortable than carrying/wearing muffs, they are more effective at noise reduction. I always carry the plugs when travelling, for sleeping purposes to block the noise of others.

I used to have a pair of ear plugs for the target range.?ÿ They contained a sensitive diaphragm that closed up on the pressure wave of a shot. Only a little of it came through. You could talk normally but any shot near enough to be problematic was greatly reduced.

@bill93

Yes, when I did clay target shooting (over 30 years ago) there were some old timers there who had damaged hearing from decades of shooting and these new fangled sonic ear plugs came along and a few of these guys had them (I think at the time they were very expensive) as they wanted to protect the remainder of their hearing while still being able to hear people speak. Trouble for the rest of us was that these guys were actually quite deaf, so regardless of whether they had the plugs in or not, you had to yell at them - which for us gave the perception that the plugs didn't actually work.
