If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.
~ George Bernard Shaw

So that's the difference between apples and ideas. Here's how the two are similar:
Some are good and some are bad:-)

Picked this up off a TV program so it might not be word for word correct. Margaret Fay Shaw or Campbell was an American folklorist who spent most of her life in Scotland and died a few years back aged 102. Her quote was 'don't let anyone else do your thinking for you, you've got to do it yourself, think it through yourself'

The last name is not familiar to me. The feet/eyes thing is neat, though.

A new one to me, and a new favorite:
"There is no limit to what can be accomplished if the parties involved don't care who gets the credit".

The easiest job in the world has to be coroner. Surgery on dead people. What's the worst thing that could happen? If everything went wrong, maybe you'd get a pulse.

A peaceful man is not completely free from the pinch of life's aggravations. He simply declines to give them power and refuses to be held captive by them. - Dodinsky

I found this in an article about Ian Hunter, of Mott the Hoople fame:

“Guilt is like an outboard motor up your arse, running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for your entire life." Ian Hunter

Besides being a very graphic description, it always made me wonder what he felt guilty about.

I think it was Dolly Parton who said, 'It costs me a fortune to look as cheap as I do'.

Likely it was "All The Young Dudes"... one of which was the infamous Mick Ronson. He is up there with FZ as one of the great guitars. RIP Mick! RIP Frank!

Here is an oldy but a goody with All Those Young Dudes from a long gone era, unfortunately. They truely were all those dudes who changed music....

Or it could have been he was "Once Bitten Twice Shy". Another classic from that era

Today's Dave Berry column, reflecting on 2011...

"This was a year in which the cast members of "Jersey Shore" went to Italy and then -- in an inexcusable lapse of border security -- were allowed to return."

How to be happy all through the year... ?

How to be happy all through the year...

Keep your heart free from hate,
Your mind free from worry.
Live simply, expect little,
Give much, sing often, pray always.
Fill your life with love, scatter sunshine.
Forget self, think of others.
Do as you would be done by.
These are the tried links in contentment's golden chain.
