The good news is about November 14 we will experience a full moon at lunar perigee. The moon will be as close as it has ever been to Earth since 1948 and appear approximately 15% larger than average.
Some native tribes called this the "Full Frost Moon"....probably because they didn't have words for "Cold Ass Moon". I personally have named this month's full lunar exposure as the "Election's Over Moon". And to honor our Druid ancestors the sacrifice of a news commentator quoting polls might be in order.
The bad news is the sunlight reflected on Earth from the moon will probably obscure most of the Geminid meteor shower. This leaves me to probably miss a great deal of my meteor watching for November. In consolation the Sci-Fi channel usually has old Twilight Zone episodes rerunning about that time.

Wouldn't the Druid's also sacrifice the loser? How about throwing in the winner just to make sure we got it right?

Lately I have come to appreciate the "ignore" button on here and was wishing I had one on my TV. Just revert to silent video of puppies playing anytime something political comes on.
The moon last month appeared larger than normal. My wife even commented on it just as it was coming up. I told her it was an optical illusion. Now I have to tell her that she was right and it is larger than normal. Thanks.

I wonder, if we sacrificed MANY news commentators, instead of just one, would the ancients be happier with the bigger sacrifice, or mad, because of the troubles we just dumped on them?
On a side note, I've had a great idea for years as to how to 'grade' tv weathermen..When they miss the forecast really bad, lop off a finger. That way you could tell by just glancing at the tv which ones were accurate and which ones weren't.

I completely agree with this treatment for weathermen. Some of the weather women on the other hand, I can bear their inaccuracies, because I just like the way they look when they say it. I can already tell by glancing which ones I want to watch everyday.

You should watch "Day of the Triffids", instead
