I measured 5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours and there was probably an inch before that. Lots of road closures and flooding and the big rivers aren't even close to cresting.

We were on the road from VA to the Detroit area yesterday. The PA turnpike was like a river. Good thing we just put new tires on the car earlier in the week, I could feel it starting to hydroplane several times. Not sure how much rain we got at home, but they were predicting 3 or more inches. It was probably more rain than we have had all summer combined.

I've been through quite a number of massive floods. I lost just about everything once in the late 70s. I had a bedroom in my folks basement. Everyone else had rooms upstairs. Dad and Brother Bill woke me up in 3' (yes feet) of water around my matress. I rescued my stereos and was able to salvage my coin and stamp collections but my comic books were a total loss. Silver Surfer issue #1 can never be replaced.

I went through several big ones in NC and a couple here in GA in the last year or 2. There ain't no words to help. I wish there was. Lord knows I could have used some a time or several.
