I started yesterday getting emails with bedroom language in the subject line. I ain't talking about memory foam mattresses, either.
So far, I've just got two, subject starts one with FW: (explicatives) and the other with Re: (explicatives). They have been from different places, with little in the body other than a "click here" link. There's only me in the recipient, i.e. don't have a string of them like a virus does, so I'm not sure where they could have came from. I don't know the people that sent them. I don't go to x rated sites, or at least not intentionally.

While I don't have "virgin ears", I would rather that ladies/ children, etc not be seeing this on my computer. I had just as soon not have to hear or look at it, either.

I use firefox browser and Thunderbird for email.

Anybody have any ideas how to get rid of it and/or stop it?
TIA, JT

I've been getting an overwhelming amount of spam email also. Nothing especially vulgar, but suggestive content.

'Tis the season I guess

Google something like "list of words to add to spam filter" or "spam keywords", etc, and add 'em to your filter.

Don't ask me why, but this reminded me of a bumper sticker I saw probably 35 years ago at a time when the small time local oil exploration business was expanding. The bumper sticker said: Please don't tell my Mama I work in the oil patch. She thinks I'm a piano player in a wh***house.

Check it as spam and it will at least leave your main widow

Many emails get sucked into the spam world every day by or good minded friends surfing the wild side of the web and allow all their contacts to be mined, sold and shared among the smuted sites.

They have gotten a lot worse the last couple of days, a lot more. Never from the same person, and never to multiple recipients.
I'm going to have to research and try to create a spam list with vulgar words in the subject line, I suppose.
I don't know what to do yet, but this is unacceptable.

Uhh....Get a Mac, lol!
Actually, the best first place to start is with your email provider...It might be your ISP or not. But whoever it is might have internal spam controls that are adjustable by the user. Most do. I have mine set to "intermediate", and rarely get any spam. Some have quite good algorithms to weed spam out. They also let you make white lists and black lists, by domain, country, mother in law status...whatever you want.

Once you set this up, it nails the spam before even getting to Thunderbird. And as long as you have a "webmail" option, if someone is trying to send you mail that you want to receive, but is getting trapped in the spam folder, you can always log in and look at the spam.

Good luck.

What's really entertaining is when your wife discovers you have received a message from Buffy1994 with a title detailing, very clearly, which sexual treats she wishes to offer you.

One of my (older) email accounts typically collects a few spam per day. Over the last couple weeks it has gotten between 50 and 75, of which a significant percentage were in Cyrillic alphabet and a many of the ones on Roman alphabet appeared to have a Russian connection. Several were what others have described above.

My Thunderbird email program does a fairly decent job of sorting them into the Junk folder, after which I quickly scan to make sure it didn't grab a message I wanted.

This morning I had none of those. Don't know what happened.

Don't get me started or I'll have to tell the story about the three women on a train. One was a Navajo, one was an Arapaho and the third was a Chicagoho.
