@stlsurveyor?ÿ
I want to be the better Cardinal fan, not bitter. I had been telling EVERYONE for months, that after that appearance with the Angels and the ovations he kept getting, it was a "Done Deal". Just watch. He will leave the Angels, be stuck somewhere for a bit, then wind up back home. No one believed me.
Note: The new manager, lives/lived in Alberts house!

He signed for 2.5 Mil. Knowing him, most of that will go right back to his charities, etc... He got all of that money from the Angels, and a lot of it wound right back up in St. Louis. ƒ?§

Yes, after 2022, our boys will be Retiring. #4, #5, and #50. They all said so.
And, it's fitting! The three Amigos, go out together!! Cardinals Way! YAY!
Guess who's coming to St. Louis this year?? ?????ÿ

Way back when the Athletics were based in Kansas City, they put a rocking chair in the dugout for Satchel Paige.?ÿ Perhaps St. Louis should opt for a Stratolounger.?ÿ The dude was drafted in 1999.?ÿ That was a millennium ago.?ÿ Came out of a KCMO area high school and junior college.

More on Satchel Paige, for the benefit of the youngsters here.

In 1965,?ÿKansas City Athletics?ÿowner?ÿCharles O. Finley?ÿsigned Paige, 59 at the time, for one game. On September 25, against the?ÿBoston Red Sox,[130]?ÿFinley invited several Negro league veterans, including Cool Papa Bell, to be introduced before the game. Paige was in the bullpen, sitting on a rocking chair, being served coffee by a "nurse" between innings. He started the game by getting?ÿJim Gosger?ÿout on a pop foul. The next man,?ÿDalton Jones, reached first and went to second on an infield error, but was thrown out trying to reach third on a pitch in the dirt.?ÿCarl Yastrzemski?ÿdoubled and?ÿTony Conigliaro?ÿhit a fly ball to end the inning. The next six batters went down in order, including a strikeout of?ÿBill Monbouquette. In the fourth inning, Paige took the mound, to be removed according to plan by?ÿHaywood Sullivan. He walked off to a standing ovation from the small crowd of 9,289. The lights dimmed and, led by the PA announcer, the fans lit matches and cigarette lighters while singing "The Old Gray Mare".[131]

Another 16 World Series wins and they'll match the Yankees (unless the Yankees win a few few more in the mean time), the Cardinals are number two on the all time World Series winner column).?ÿ

I still don't understand why they can call it the World Series. When did a team from outside the US play in it?

My brother likes to take a winter vacation wherever the Caribbean league playoffs are held.

I was excited to see this happen.?ÿ Not likely to happen this year unless he has enough batting opportunities, but I'm hoping to see him get into the 700 HR club.?ÿ Read an article this morning where after the author kept pointing out how Pujols standing in various Cardinals records as 'second place', the author mentioned "Well, Musial pretty much owns Cardinals records"

Stan the Man Musial born ?ÿStanislaw Franciszek Musial; November 21, 1920?ÿƒ?? January 19, 2013)

Grew up in Donora, Pennsylvania.?ÿ He played one season on the newly revived Donora High School baseball team, where one of his teammates was Buddy Griffey, father of MLB player?ÿKen Griffey Sr.?ÿand grandfather to?ÿKen Griffey Jr.

I think it's because they had teams in Canada. Expos and Blue Jays. Expos left, though.

Me too! Actually, he only needs 2 more for 700, but because they don't count post-season homers, those didn't count. *I* think he will get 700! Probably 701!!! But that is the optimist die hard Cardinals fan in me. ?????ÿ

Watched Pujols last year with Dodgers. He can still hit but can't run at all. Great player with class.?ÿ He'll pinch hit and DH some too. Play first at times too if needed. Hope he stays healthy and finishes successfully.

Was at an All Star game at Yankee Stadium as a kid and saw Stan Musial crush a homer. Solid contact streaming and hooking liner into the mezzanine.

Hardest hit ball that I have ever seen live?ÿ

That's when briefly there were two all-star games in the season

Have you seen him lately? He's skinny and fit! He dropped all that weight so maybe he will be able to run this year after all. We shall see. ?????ÿ
My mother was a DIE HARD Yankees fan. She would have LOVED to be at something like that! Me too if a Cardinal was there. ????ÿ

@noodles If you listen to Ozzie Smith's HOF speech, he mentions and thanks New Orleans own Mackie Shillstone who is a exercise, nutrition and training guru?ÿ

Ozzie said that he would not have been the player he was without him.

Mackie Shillstone is also recognized as saving and improving Serena Williams tennis career after she had many health problems.

@alan-roberts?ÿ
Not Surprised. Ozzie is one cool man!!!!!!!!! I got to meet him, once. Coming out of Dodger Stadium in 1988, I think. I was irritated because traffic was 2+ hours, so I just sat on the hood of my car inside of Dodger Stadium, ate my picnic lunch (I was too poor at the time to buy Stadium Food) and waited for it to all die down.
Well, about 2 hours later, the lot is empty. Then this Big ol' SUV pulls up, and I see Ozzie sneaking out of the stadium, headed for the SUV! I ran up to him with my baseball cards, begging him to sign! He ignored me. So, I squawked at him...

"HEY! I am a die hard fan and I have to live here in L.A., and get picked on! I have all of your little statues, baseball cards, etc... The LEAST you could do is please sign my card? Please??????"

He stopped, started giggling and smiling, and SIGNED ALL of my cards! Then hopped in the SUV and drove off!! Made this 17 year olds LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?????ÿ

I still have my cards! The Ex-Husband destroyed my little statues in a moment of abusive rage. Snapped Ozzies legs and arms right off!!! I should have kicked his ass!!! The ex, not Ozzie. ??? ????ÿ
