Daughter comes home wanting to purchase a rabbit from. FFA and ag class. Of course all the things kids can say especially little girls. Its cute it??s this that blah blah blah. ?ÿMe I say well how much does it cost and feed cost care teach me everything i need to know about a rabbit so me and mom can make an informed decision. ?ÿWell she has been down the last two days with fever and spent her time researching and putting together a presentation. So after the wife and I clocked out we all sat on the couch me wife and youngest daughter. She had the little sister clicking between the slides as she stood before us presenting her case She covered yearly feed cost and compared that to cattle feed dog feed and chicken feed. She covered vet check up yearly cost and treats alternatives to feed and housing exercise all along with the fun stuff. I am blown away. I don??t see managers justifying cost that well honestly. She had pictures attention gainers words all in her google slides. Not just pictures from internet but ones she has taken. ?ÿShe not only had the numbers but she played on the principles of sales. Emotions make it personal like its nor just a rabbit its Wilbur. She had even researched and document how to introduce the rabbit and farm dog. How and when to fix the rabbit for non breeding purposes. I don??t need another animal. But geezers. What do you do when in your mind you tasked her knowing you could help teach her things she didn??t think about and she had all the answers. It will take me all weekend just to punch holes in this. Degnabit. I have put my foot in my mouth deep this time. ?????ÿ
Let her run your business and Cheer up! plus you can eat the rabbit. ?????ÿ
Absolutely great parenting skills being displayed here.?ÿ Congratulations on a job well done.
?ÿ
????ÿ Looks like you're getting a rabbit.?ÿ Seriously, though, hats off to your daughter.
And having a rabbit's not so bad.?ÿ There's a clear Pet->Stewpot-and-Mittens pipeline.
And having a rabbit's not so bad
@holy-cow well i have to say more credit goes to the wife. But we thank you. I am a very lucky man to have such an awesome wife and family. I still make so many mistakes. But i just keep plowing through.
Y??all are not helping. She is 11 years old. ?ÿShe put together 11 or 12 slides and a 30 minute presentation. I am proud of her but dang it. Now I have to build another pen. Lol. That was in her presentation as well the extra role of chicken wire we already have just sitting in a pile. Of course the hay and bedding is not an issue according to her because We already bale hay every year whats one bale or two for her rabbit. I am doomed with 3 ladies in the house i am in a no win situation here. They have begun the conspiring against me now. ?ÿ
If you need a promotion, let her make a presentation. For you...
@nate-the-surveyor LOL. Well you might be right. I am very happy with my pay and position at this time. I honestly think they are paying me a little more than I deserve for the lack of cad skills I have. ?ÿPlanning data qa/qc adjustments and how best to approach a project is the easy part for me. Figuring out how to understand all the layers and line types and getting the text to rotate and such makes me feel like i have two left feet. I am learning it slowly as I get time in it. I know what I want to do just have not figured out how to make civil3d do what I want yet.?ÿ
Maybe I should make her do civil3d every night for a week so she can teach me. ?ÿ?????ÿ
Be careful.?ÿ If they promote you into a position where you must communicate digitally with absolutely no typographical errors or grammatical issues, you will be sunk.
Our bunny ended up living upstairs with my daughter. She (the bunny) had the run of the place (upstairs) during the day and headed into her crate/cage in my daughters room at night. The bunny would head into the cage to do her business then hang out with the kids most of the time if they were around.
I'm not that great at parenting and was pretty sure who would be tending an outside bunny when it was unpleasant out, so I was okay with the inside idea.
The bunny was very clever, curious, social and entertaining for my daughter, and son. Especially for the worst of the covid business.
The bunny did like to chew stuff, though. There are some baseboards and a door that need work. But both of my kids are in college and I really don't go upstairs much anymore.
@holy-cow Now that is the truth. ?ÿI would be sunk for sure.
@bob-freeman Well I know if we get the bunny she will do her part taking care of it. ?ÿThey both raised day old chicks and we??re always out checking them in the morning and evening. ?ÿThe wife and I were discussing different ootions. Like she would have to use her money or at least some of it from the egg business to offset the cost of the feed and such for the pet bunny. ?ÿOr we would let them get some non pet bunnies and have a meat business. ?ÿBut telling little girls ?ÿto eat a chte fluffy bunny is not easy. They have done frog legs helped pluck chickens pulled calves. But a bunny might be it lol.
Now, if you let her learn acad, Carlson, civil 3d, etc, a number of us will want to send you final line work, to make into final drawings!
😉

Update on the Bunny. We went on a vacation and returned home so today was the day. Wilbur is adjusting to the new home and girls are happy. The 11 year old is now 12 as of the 1st of April. She competed with the bunny a couple weeks ago. Good grief i have never seen so many rabbits in one place. She won 1st in two divisions and overall in another. Placed 2nd in another. She earned the rabbit. So far she is letting her little sister enjoy it as well. But those of you with kids know thats a ticking time bomb lol. Now i am back to fixing a axle on a lawnmower as my yard is almost talk enough to cut hay. Its always something to fix . The list never gets shorter and i am gone all next week for a convention.

You need to employ those rabbits...
@jimcox i need something. Hay season is right around the corner i cant keep up with everything now. Between surveying and kids school and after school activities and farm chores . I think the wife would like me to just park the baler this year. I might have to. I enjoy it and enjoy having the girls out helping but i have more than i can chew. Tough decision for sure.
but i have more than i can chew.
Rabbits are good at chewing ...
Our four kids never wanted the usual bunny, puppy, kitten... They had those too. But the emus and mini horse... We rescued a very tiny possum when our dogs attacked mama possum. So tiny it fit in a soup can. So our youngest, Skye, raised "Oscar", the female possum. Even their pets' names aren't normal. It slept with her, ate with her, used a cat box, and was much cleaner than a cat. I could never bring myself to pet it. Even though it had never eaten dead things or such....
A bunny should be perfect.
