My son got this map for my birthday.1650 France. Really cool! Never knew any chainmen I thought were close to cherubs or angels!!!!
I can imagine how that image happened.

The lowly chainman, doan get no respec.
He jus barely gets 'is name into the field notes...

Nice map. Chain-man probably hallucinating from eating all them snails or "ex-cargo" as the fancy restaurants call it. 😉

Amazing how the basic design of a GPS rover hasn't changed much over the years.
