A good fast hot filling breakfast is equal amounts of oats and grits mixed in water, and left to sit until the water is absorbed, then heated in the microwave on the "popcorn" time. add milk and brown sugar.

The Swedes have a breakfast called "gruet" which is made from mixing bread flour (and a little salt) into hot milk in a pot until you have a pudding consistency. Dallop a portion out on a plate with a healthy serving of real butter in the middle, then add brown sugar and a dash of ground cinnamon if you like.

Jules

I just had sausage, eggs, grits and biscuits for breakfast. MMMMMM. Now to tackle the job of getting all the tax information together. I LOVE the IRS (NOT).

Mmmmm, sounds good. I've never mixed the two.
Unlike my yankee wife who sweetens grits, I usually sweeten oatmeal but only butter grits.

My sausage came from Carroll's there in Albany. They are ALMOST as good as Stripling's.

My grandmother use to put grits on a dinner plate, flatten, butter the the top, and sprinkle sugar on the top. DUDE! That was good!
