I got this article:
Gold is Selling for $2,800 an Ounce in India

In an email and just about fell out of my chair.

Looks totally legitimate to me. Nobody trying to make a profit selling gold with scare tactics here. Any Indian who wants relief from $2800 gold can get on line here and stock up.

FWIW, those Zimbabwean notes have been literally worthless since 2009, and virtually worthless for some years before that. Euros and US dollars are the defacto medium of exchange there. Old news.

I attempted to make investments overseas and found out that some countries insist upon doing business with only residents of their country, aliens not welcome.
🙁

I have some money market interests from years ago that I placed in some high-risk overseas markets. I got my nuts shot off in 2008 but left it alone. In the last three years it has actually rebounded and exceeded expectations nicely. But thanks for reminding me...the future foreign money affairs might turn more volatile than I'm willing to endure...a fella can only live so long....;)

Current prices are low in my opinion, but that article is just designed to drive people into investing in gold.

With the situation described in your article - food and medicine are probably selling at a premium there as well.
-------
It always boggles my mind that the wealthiest country in the world confiscated the majority of it's citizens wealth - then went off the gold standard AND kept the gold. Something that seems to be treated as a trivial matter as far as US history goes.
