These photos are from a hike yesterday to the high point of Eagle Cliff, between Franconia Notch NH and Mt Lafayette NH.

Eagle Cliff Summit is the high point of the ridge to the right

A little steep here.

The Summit Register. Last sign in was early august 2012

Perry:

Thanks for the photos. I guess that is Cannon Mtn. Ski Area on the other side of the notch. They did a good job threading the new highway through the valley. I was up there last summer at The Mt.Washington Hotel and took a trip over to The Flume. I hadn't been in that area for about 20 years and when I saw the new interstate highway on the map I was surprised and concerned that they spoiled the area with a monster highway but they did make it all work. A very nice job but it would have been better with the old road and having everybody stay away except you and me.

The Flume in Franconia Notch

Yes, Cannon Mountain is on the west side of the highway. Yes, they did a good job on the highway thru the notch, certainly a compromise with only 2 lanes and no exits to reverse direction.

Here's a couple pics from the Flume in the winter (There is no charge in the winter to visit. Also, they take the walkways down in the narrow section of the flume for winter

I've been up the wilderness trail but never been to 13 falls, though I have hiked and camped in the Pemechewassit Wilderness many times. I have a couple of good photos from Surveying on the summit of Mt. Washington I'll have to post sometime.

I've also hiked Mt. Washington several times in the winter including skiing from the summit, through Tuckerman's Ravine all the way to Pinkham North, a verticle drop of 4200'.

Here's a shot of the bowl at Tuckerman's Ravine (by others). Note: there is no lift!

Morning Perry, VH,

Never been climbing in the snow or ice...had a seat harness, figure 8, beaners and some good rope at one time, did some repelling, hiked parts of the Appalachian trail, it was great.

Have a good one,
