Not the Angel associated with Wendell, but 5 of the f-18's that are practicing for the airshow here in Vero Beach this weekend. My office happens to be in the flight path for our airport and pilots use it as a reference point because it is pretty much the tallest building on the mainland. If I can figure out how to post video, you'll see how close they are. for now, this photo will have to do....
They come up to RI the weekend after. Can't wait to see them after last year's "hiatus". They always put on a good show and its hard to believe how close the get to each other at hundreds of miles per hour.

FIVE? What? Unless something has changed they fly 6 planes: 4 in the diamond and 2 solo. + 1 spare - just in case.
#7 is the standby for a spare. Matter of fact, if I'm not mistaken, your picture shows a two-seater. That would in fact be #7.
I love seeing "The Blues". Lord knows how many times I've managed to see them. I think the Hornet is by far the best plain they ever had. The A-4 Skyhawk II was pretty fun to watch but loud - not as loud of the Phantoms. The 18s have unique smoothness. Kind of sounds like what greased glass might sound like.
Last show I was at was at Cecil Field outside Orlando. (The base might be closed now.) One of the local fighter squadrons had a beer truck setup. They had all kind of stuff for sale. Of course, I just had to have one of their squadron t-shirts - strike fighter group VFA-15 Valions.
Have a good time!!!
yeah, only 5 running laps when I was on the roof. they've been passing by my window and all 6 were flying in formation with #7 in the background...
thanks, I had forgotten that one
That man has magic fingers. I love almost anything he does. Great Song.
That one and "blue eyes crying" are my favorite songs of his.
I have to wait until Oct to see the Blue Angles here at our little air show.
#7 is usually flown the week leading up to the show. They typically take local media, celebs, etc up for promotional flights. From what I hear they go thru a lot of barf bags too.
He sings behind the music too much for me. 🙂
Well, one of these days when I do get to Florida, then I would technically be "flying over". B-)
