Layed out 9 piers, 4 section corners, 4 quarter section corners, and 1 center quarter and we are labeling them that way...
Did you put the center on a latitudinal line? ???
?ÿ
Are the East West lines curved?
Are the North South lines cardinal? Do they converge to the North?
sarcasm on
Why not use pink cones?
sarcasm off
You may consider them as being on a latitudinal curve if you wish. ?ÿBut, try to prove they are not using your typical equipment.
What are you building? I don't even have to guess who it's for! ?????ÿ
Mrs. Karoly requested a 15'x20' deck over the old concrete patio which has multiple lifted panels (tripping hazard). She also wants a pergola with solid roof so she can sit out there when it's raining and not get wet. Originally I was going to put post bases on the old concrete but decided not to because I can't be sure it is stable. I rented a 60lb demolition hammer and it broke pretty easily, in other words bad, weak concrete. Sunk 12" sonotubes and filled with concrete, installed L bolts in wet concrete. We don't have frost here so there is no frost line to worry about.
We got it reasonably level, it's not the super hadron collider in terms of precision.
The North quarter corner was too short but had enough material to make another one.
The pressure treated Douglas fir is pretty cheap, the redwood decking will cost 3 or 4 times more. Then there's the pergola redwood. I want to follow a style built in the 1930s at Mendocino Woodlands.
Shouldn't your control be outside of the project area?

I think you are building a pavilion, not a purgatory pergola.
"Structures that are similar to pergolas but have fixed roofs may be referred to as pavilions or gazebos. A pavilion is a freestanding structure with a solid roof but no walls to block the fresh air."
Looks good.?ÿ It also looks sunny.?ÿ We've been under the clouds a lot here recently.
After completing the last covered deck I built I realized the birds occupied more than I did.?ÿ At certain times of the year our habit was to turn the chairs forward so the bird poop wouldn't get on the cushions.?ÿ Later in the year (probably after the little ones flew the nests) the poop density dropped significantly.
They are wonderful places to ponder deep thoughts and swill cold beer.
The neighbors constructed something like that about two years ago because the little missus had to have one. ?ÿShortly afterward I needed to meet with them on a real estate deal. ?ÿI suggested we meet out there instead of in their house, thinking they would enjoying showing off a bit. ?ÿWe had a great conversation and completed our business in a fine setting. ?ÿThat is the only time, however, I have ever seen them in it.

I don't think that would be a pergola, sounds like maybe a shelter of sorts but not a pergola.
?ÿ
The pergola that I have seen look like an arbor with a floor or platform underneath, no roof.
You might get away with calling it a "Covered" Pergola...
I did some layout to help rebuild this one after it was it by a semi truck.
"Mrs. Karoly requested"
I see you are trained also. ?????ÿ

More like Royal Navy jargon, "you are requested and required to..."
