The excitement builds as the sound of a diesel engine, off in the distance, appears to be getting closer. Anxiety builds as the sound becomes louder and louder, obviously heading in this direction. Seconds later, the feeling of giddiness reaches a level similar to that of a young child just prior to the final school bell before Summer vacation. The famous brown truck appears from around the corner; goosebumps are evident and jitters cause difficulties with eyesight. But it is all for naught, as said truck passes by without even a pause. The remainder of the day is spent weeping in sorrow, for it is not a day in which the positive side of the love/hate relationship with the UPS delivery person will be experienced.
I know the feeling!!!
Great story!

The arrival of the mailman at our mailbox was a big treat for a pre-schooler stuck at home with no one else under thirty-something for three-fourths of the year. My "big man" job was to retrieve the mail for my mother to sort. We received two daily papers. Before I could read two-syllable words I had pretty well mastered studying the comics in each paper. First, the paper with more comics and then the one with less. Every time. Saturday was extra special because there was a colored insert full of comics, some of which were not in the weekday papers.
Thanks for helping me to have an excuse to reminisce over enjoying the simple things.

Funny.
Hey Gavin,
Speaking of waiting on something that was suppose to show up 3 days ago....
I found an HO scale "TT Type 40 Mark I TARDIS" for my layout!!
USPS tracking shows it should show up today. FINALLY!!!
It's been stuck at some facility in NY since the 6th with no updates.
Hopefully I'll be able to put a light inside but at minimum I could mount a white LED on top.
I'll be sure to post or send you a pic when it gets here but I have company coming over today so it'll be tomorrow or later tonight.

The USPS is intentionally providing super crappy service just to show all the politicians in Washington, D.C. that USPS must receive another $14 trillion per year, or else. We are getting the "or else".
It took 19 calendar days for a 9x12 first class envelope ($1.19 postage) to travel less than forty miles as the crow flies. On day 18 the client was not happy. Magically, the envelope arrived the very next day.
Cripes Wendell, what is it you are waiting for? B-)
🙁 Here's an unusuall one
At mid-afternoon Tuesday, I ordered a Garmin 65LMT from The GPS Store at Ocean Isle Beach on the North Carolina coast. That's roughly 230 miles from my house.
UPS tracking showed it in Wilmington at 4:30 on the same day and on the delivery truck for my house at 7:30 the next morning (Wednesday). It was delivered at 1:30 PM on Wednesday.
That was less than 24 hours from the time I pushed the purchase button.

> Evidently there are no Time Lords working at UPS...
You mean USPS as in my case.
However, one is run by politicians and the other by unions.
Either way, what would should one expect?
At least I should have it at about any time now. That's the bottom line.

Best I've seen is DHL overnight from Ireland. It arrived here in less than 24 hours from when it was dropped off. I was impressed.
USPS has some real serious problems of late. Packages get in a couple of their distribution warehouses and just sit & sit & sit. And very seldom is 2 day Priority really 2 day. 4 & 5 day seems to be very common.
