From my 2800 mile trek.
Can anyone explain the naming of D'Lo, Mississippi?
Not far from D'Lo was a similar sign for Oddi. ?ÿThe only thing Google can provide involves internal bodily processes.
Why does "the Swedish Nightingale", Miss Jenny Lind, have a namesake town and namesake streets in Arkansas.
How does one properly pronounce Oauchita?
?ÿ
I think D'Lo was first named "Damned Low" referring to it's elevation.?ÿ The US Post Office refused to register the first name...as the story goes.
Oauchita is pronounced "wash-it-aw"...around here anyway.
And as for the "Swedish Nightingale"... I have no earthly idee.?ÿ R-Kansas is a funny place.?ÿ Most of the section lines don't even follow the roads..
That sounds like a local intersection called "Frog Level" and the name of the finest 18ft aluminum canoe I had the time of my life piloting for 8yrs.
How does one properly pronounce Oauchita?
I don't know but that reminds me of Champoeg (Oregon), which is pronounced shampoo-ee.
