My cousin (holding the fish) caught this 12 pounder in one of my daddy's ponds last weekend. It's about 2 acres. Guess where my two boys and I were today? We didn't have his luck though. In fact, we got skunked. We'll snag a good one soon. My oldest, Parker, said "Well daddy, it's like you said, if we caught one every time we cast a lure, it would be called catching instead of fishing." I couldn't help but smile. I just enjoyed sitting on the dam with them.

Anyway, here's the fish my cousin caught.

We've caught a lot in the 5-9 lb range on the home place, and there has been the occasional snapped fishing line, but I think this is the largest one yet to make it on the bank.

Five pound range has been about right here. You'd have to spend a month of Sundays out on Lake Fork with Bill Dance to land that lunker. Too Cool.

That possibly could be a state record!

That's nothing

TDD merely steps to pondside and begins to whistle a tune similar to that of the pied piper of Hamlin. They all swim to shore and he picks up whichever ones he desires.

Sounds fun, the fish is a very nice one, however I would have snapped some pics, weighed him, and let grandpa go back into the pond.

Nahhhh

The World Record was caught in Georgia - a little over 23 pounds if my memory serves me correctly. My wife doesn't like deer heads on the wall and REFUSES to let me put a fish on the wall, but if I catch one over 10 lbs. I'll have to find a place to put it - my current best is 8 lbs.

I'm no ichthyologist, but "grandpa" looks about ready to spawn.
