Gentlemen--Hope this would be the correct category. We had some down time and in researching TBC to possibly convert some files we found out that Trimble does not support TGO, since when I don't know (a year maybe?). Were any of you contacted with with a sales pitch to up-grade when they decided to end support of TGO? We received a quote for TBC (sticker shock)and after I came back from the ER after I fell on the floor I may have to consider it. Right now TGO is fine for what we are doing but I may not have a choice in the near future. Real question is--How is your Trimble Support in your area.
I'm not sure where you're located, but we've been pleased with the support. We purchase our Trimble equipment/software from the guys at Seiler. Craig and Tom both do an excellent job answering any questions we have.
There has been quite a bit of discussion on this board about the switch from TGO to TBC so there is plenty of info.
we have done the basic upgrade to TBC, and from what I remember, it was $499.
we have installed it on a handful of PC's and we have not found a need for the 4-digit $$$$ upgraded TBC (which would process baseline projects of a larger scale than we currently do). Our local Trimble dealer - Allen Instruments, is a factory authorized/trained shop offering pretty much all the Trimble services. We're pleased with the support we get here from Allen, and really like the Trimble equipment we have.
I am actually in a TBC class at Trimble right now. We're still on the data prep portion and wont get around to the survey portion until tommorrow. Post any questions here and I will try to get some answers tommorrow.
They only gave me the 4 digit 3K option. Thanks for the info I'll ask them about a basic upgrade.
We're in a Mid-Atlantic State (don't want to give away TMI to protect the guilty). I've searched the forum on the info available and it has been quite informative.
You will probably need to go to TBC at some point but you can push that date into the future by using Rinex Dates or FixDatTGO. You will find Rinex Dates under the services tab of Beer Leg. If you use Rinex Dates, be sure to use rinex 2.11 files. Rinex Dates will work with either rinex 2.10 or 2.11 files but if your data contains any L2C data you must use rinex 2.11.
I believe John Hamilton is working on an update to FixDatTGO and will probably announce when it is available.
If you have any questions, send me an email.
I grew up in the shadows of the cooling towers. i used to water ski on the right bank of the Susquehanna, where the water is always warm.
Our Trimble support in the WA-ID area is great. It's not so much the support that's an issue it's the $ crunchers at the head office deciding we must upgrade to TBC because TGO is obsolete....and oh by the way....no longer works.
Thanks to FixDatTGO we are now up and running and fully operational with TGO. We have zero need to spend outrageous sums of $ to replace TGO, which more than meets our GPS needs.
Updating FixDatTGO kinda fell off my radar when I got some rush requests for topo. It won't take long to make it compatible with Rinexdates, I just need to review how it is setup, write a few lines of code, test it, and then I will release it.
As many of you know, the only issue is mixing rinex files with dat files collected after 2/29/2012, when RinexDates changed the year offset. Rinex files alone work OK, dat files alone work OK, but mixing them gives times 1 year apart (as I said, only after 2/29/2012).
Never seem to have enough time....................
Thanks John
Whenever you find some time will be plenty fast enough. When I was emailing with Christof the other day he talked about getting in touch with you regarding future compatiblity. Might be good to talk with him before you make any changes.
