How did I ever get along with five?
Some other geezers may recognize that advertising phrase that promoted some sort of secret agent spy toy on Saturday morning commercials in the 1960's.
I need one now so I can get back to five from my current count of four. Too many years of sun exposure created a problem on the primary knuckle of the right ring finger. Last week the dermatologist did a little freezing action there to begin the restoration process. The problem is that the skin is greatly weakened so the constant flexing has created a tear along the side of the knuckle. The recommended solution is to stabilize the finger so the knuckle cannot flex for another week or so.
You have no idea how long it is taking to type this message with only the thumb and index finger on the right hand. No lengthy epistles for a while. STOP CHEERING! I CAN HEAR YOU!

I had a spot frozen a few weeks ago on the back of my left hand between the first and second knuckle. Being left handed I have torn, banged, jabbed and scraped this wound more times than I can count. When I reach on the underside of my DC to release it from its mount on my rover pole the stylus (in its nested spot on the DC) pokes the wound so well it almost seems by design. I tried Band-Aids and they just aggravated things when I would remove them of an evening.
I found some little flo-pink 1" plastic "shiners" for concrete nails (with my LS number on them). I taped one over the wound for a "shield" with some bandage tape for about a week. It has finally developed a tough-ass scab that will probably be there until Christmas.
Years a go I briefly worked on a crew with an apprentice who had 6 fingers on one hand. It was like an extra pinky; I'm not sure there were any bones in it.
The National Electrical Code (NEC) requires no more than six operations of the hand to de-energize a circuit breaker panelboard, including main and sub-main breakers in the case of a split-bus panelboard. It has long been wondered if the guy who wrote that up eons ago, was polydactylous...?

HC would have used that word if he had all of his fingers working to type it.

I'll bet he was the most proper person in town when drinking tea.

I've gotten along with 2 fingers on my right hand since 1969 when I lost the index, middle and ring finger due to an accident with an anti-tank rocket in Vietnam. I was able to do field and office work throughout my civilian surveying career from 1970 until retiring in 2014.

Gross. I'd have it lopped off.

I've known a fellow my entire life, he's now 73, who was involved in a farm accident when he was very little. His hand is much like yours. I remember him being on the basketball and football teams when he was in high school. He started working for a local grain elevator while still in high school which involved scooping grain regularly. Stuck with the elevator business his entire working life. He learned early how to do things and do them well.
I wonder if we'd be using base 12 numbers instead of base 10 had the anatomy worked out a little differently.
Guys can count to eleven without a problem................................so long as it's warmer than -10F
Only 11? Take off my shoes and socks and I can count higher than that. Don't ask me how much right now since I don't feel like taking off my shoes and socks right now.......

20 1/2 ?
only 20.375 if memory serves... but it's been a long time since I've had to even try to count that high
My typing is improving, but I have to spell everything in my mind instead of letting my fingers do it for me.
