Wayne

Mix in some artificial sugar (xylitol) with some cat food. They will fall into a deep sleep with no pain, never to awaken.

Xylitol, ask for it by name

It's alot easier to have a trap door on a barrel of water than training a pet to be aggressive.
That is what a friends grandpa did to get rid of skunks so they wouldn't spray. Problem was it would get as many cats as it did skunks.

wow..Xylitol...who knew?

Sounds like dangerous stuff.

Since it doesn't kill them right away, they'd probably run off and die elsewhere and somebody else would have 'carcass duty'. You might never see them again. How unfortunate....

I'd better write that down so I can remember how dangerous it is.

OK here goes:

Check out the crazy cat lady's facebook. Find her friends. Then, become one of her friends. Then, post on her page about cat nutrition. That is, how nutritious cats are to make soup from.

Then, make up a flier, and stick it under her windshield, about "Doing a neighborhood cat drive, to make CATSUP. The original Cat Soup. With a plan to feed the homeless, down by the old RR bridge.

Cat recipes are available.

You should be ashamed

Well I just lost a lot of respect for, not only for the original poster, but several others in this thread.

This is a land survey forum go spout your animal hatred elsewhere.

I don't think anyone in this thread hates animals. Over-population is a problem that results in painful deaths for the animals. A more humane method to control overpopulation and feral animals (animals without owners) is to dispatch them quickly and painlessly. My method above does not cause them pain. It puts them into a diabetic coma.

I have a cat, and a dog, and a pig, and a cow (several). I also keep unwanted pets away through a myriad of methods.

Paden

My good friend is the local vet. He says when animals are poisoned with anti-freeze, if it's caught early enough, IV grain alcohol will counteract it. That's painful on the animal. Xylitol is not, according to sources and vets, not painful for the animal. It's pretty humane in one way, and cheaper than .22's.

Kris

Question: What are the signs my dog might have eaten xylitol?

Answer: Immediately after ingestion, vomiting may occur. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) develops within 30 to 60 minutes, resulting in lethargy and weakness. These signs may quickly develop into ataxia (trouble walking), collapse, and seizures. Prolonged blood clotting times as well as skin and intestinal hemorrhaging are clinical signs that may develop within hours and warrant a very poor prognosis

This is from your link and it sounds like a very cruel and agonizing painful slow death.

Sounds like one can be charged with cruelty to animals besides opening yourself to law suits if you happen to inadvertently poison a neighbor's dog in the process of your cat purge.

And there is a human over population issue, but you don't see me shooting the homeless and we aren't putting additives into our soup kitchens, homeless shelter's and nursing home's food "to dispatch them quickly and painlessly" because it's "more humane" then to allow them to live and most likely die on the street or live in pain.......

Honestly I give a cat better odds to survive without intervention than most humans any day of the year.

And you are wrong that no one hates animals here, maybe not animals in general, but there is hate here. And stacked on top of that is a big pile of ignorance.

Let just drop the subject and move on and I would appreciate it if an admin would just remove this whole thread if possible, it is a disgrace to this forum.

As long as we're dealing out "should"...

You should mind your own business. Impressing your personal views upon others as some sort of moral ruler is ludicrous and childish. If you're offended by our subject matter, don't read it.

Wendell may very well yank this post. Let's let him be the moderator.

Well I never did expect this original post to get such a variety of comments. I just have a feral cat odor problem from them pooping outside my front door, and the stupid neighbor (likely 75 yrs old) keeps feeding them.

I like that artificial sugar & cayenne solution. I'll try and get some. But simple cayenne does seem to keep them away. I don't really care if they don't make it through the night, but also don't want me to go some other place.

I also was born, raised, and had dogs all my life. Even had a cat or two before. I respect them all. It's the owners (or pseudo owners) who mess things up.

Unrelated but just as simple to solve seasonal sugar ant problems is sugar & borax solution. They love the sugar and take the borax back to Queeny. Takes a week or so for positive results, but it works

I had this lying around from some report, don't know how accurate it is, its not recent or verified by me:

"There are an estimated 1.2 million free ranging cats in Wisconsin. Cats that are left to run free in Wisconsin kill an estimated 140 million song birds each year. Another 4 million game birds, 47 million rabbits, and as many as 200 million other small mammals are killed each year by the house cat when left to roam freely."

Take a few minutes and think, if possible use the humane methods of discouraging cats from you yard.

If you do end up killing them think of your elderly neighbor, you may not like those cats but she obviously loves them. It will likely devastate her if you take the inhumane route.

Please make the right decision and if you don't I hope it comes back to haunt you one day

Cat O Nine Lives

With all respect, there are those who are actively pursuing that human population reduction thing. Read "W.H.O killed Africa". (World Health Organisation)

Look at the long history and CHANGE in our vaccines. This was experimented with in Africa, as a Population Control Agent.

There are folks that love us. Love to reduce the population of the earth. Through ANY means. It is now common knowledge that Pearl Harbor was NOT a surprise attack. That was to get USA into WWII.

Now, I gotta go feed my cat. With 4 kittens.

Stupid hick?

You mentioned the presence of hate in your initial post. Looks like we all share a little hate here, huh?

My hate is for the diseases and parasites that other folk's unwanted animals bring to our environment. Removing them from my environment IS a responsibility to my family and animals (yes, we have cats...well cared for cats).

Your hatred is apparently for others with opinions that differ from your own. And it seems as though you might have a hatred for folks speaking truths. I pity that. But please feel free to hate away. The more insipid and ignorant people that hate me the better I like it!

Have a nice day, Miss.:-P

I'll judge what I want

Catof9lives,

Would that you had as much sense as the Noble Roman.

It is not easy to get someone to think about things that have become emotional, but certain truths are helpful for producing peace and harmony.

Consider this: A guy has a broken widow in his house. It goes unfixed for many years.
Now rightly you would think something wrong with this guy.

Now his house catches on fire. All of a sudden he goes around screaming about the broken window and hindering the firefighters. NUTS? Maybe. Mental illness? Maybe.

Suppression of some sort? Hmmm. Detraction from the fire? YES!

OK. What is the application to this thread? Why is it that a person can get so bent out of shape (so much so as to insult others) over something that is of lesser importance than other pressing issues.

In comparison to what goes on in our society these animal issues are merely moral distractions designed to cover up a bigger FIRE. If we can focus our outrage and self-righteousness on animals we cover up the practice killing baby humans.

Respectfully, Stephen Zitkovich
