I have the opportunity to be interviewed by our local access TV channel regarding surveying and my business.
Any special little items I should get out there? I plan on discussing the homeowners responsibility to define their property lines to avoid future confrontation and problems.
I will also discuss the breadth and depth of the Profession, such as construction layout, boundaries, and geodetic work. (Kind of funny that my day yesterday, I dealt with each of those issues.)
" I plan on discussing the homeowners responsibility to define their property lines to avoid future confrontation and problems."
If the homeowner could do that he wouldn't need a surveyor, would he?
You might want to re-word that a tad.
Might be kind of a long list.
You might delinate the types of construction, from subdivisions to tall buildings, bridges as an example... basically structures and earthworks.....
Mining, both above and below ground?
Topography, both small site, and GIS scale collection.
Hydrographic ?
Scanning?
Road construction?
oops... back to work, I'm sure everyone will chime in with more!
B-)
"to have their property lines defined " 🙂
Keep it Simple Surveyor. KISS
Talk at it from the clients' viewpoints. If possible, stress the importance of good surveys to the client; how it is valuable to the users. Help the listeners to understand that what we do has a value to the property they own.

Be prepared for the editor to shorten the interview a lot, picking sound bites out of context, and really confuse listeners.
