Hearing is tomorrow at 9:00am.
Attorney is angling for a change of venue but said to be ready to testify anyway.
It's nice having a client with deep pockets. If the venue change goes through, then I get an all expenses paid trip to.....
....Houston, Texas. 😛
I kinda wish their home office was in Honolulu or something.
Andy be even Cheaper coming in from OZ...
Good luck in the dock! Derail them with the Melbourne tram story.

C'mon Andy... you know it would have to be in your home state... But be thankful it might be in a cool, busy town, instead of some podunk, one-horse town.
Do as you wish; but, being ready to testify should kick in your fee for the day.
Being ready comes with a cost and it is only fair that you be compensated for that cost.
Something to consider.

That happened to me a few months ago. I was all ready to go and actually showed up at the Courthouse to testify but they settled the case out in the hallway. I was there about 45 minutes and got paid my 1/2-day minimum professional testimony rate. I didn't feel like I had ripped them off either because being there prepared to testify was at least half the battle and it blew half a day anyway. I did have some input into the settlement language when it appeared that the attorney wasn't thinking things through all the way. It involved a restraining order for his client to stay 100 yards from the neighbor, which would have included most of the client's house.
And we're done!
Sat on the back bench for a couple of hours while the l*wyers met in the judge's chamber. At one point, the court reporter came out and got her steno machine and went back into the chamber with the plaintiff. A little while late, the lawyers came out, packed their stuff and headed for the door. Court was never called to order and not a word was spoken. Apparently an agreement was reached, or they agreed to mediate. They also agreed to a self-imposed gag order, so I will probably not know the results until I see it on the ground or read a deed in the courthouse. Unless they call me to stake the agreed boundary.
I would guess that the plaintiff is about to purchase an expensive piece of property.
Media Link
I forgot to mention that the print and tv media showed up at the courthouse just after I got there. Added a little to the sweat factor.
I think the interest is there because this property is served by a grade crossing that is probably the most dangerous in the county. There is also a breast bar next door and a club down the block that contribute greatly to the number of accidents occurring after 2:00am. It has had a lot of media attention and the railroad did try to get the county to agree to closing the crossing without success.
