DUANE

Richard,

I have thoroughly analyzed your alien reasoning and find I prefer things in the deep end.

What is the purpose of taxing land if not to pay for maintaining land records? What is the purpose of land records if they don't mean anything?

I think you need to turn the page and read a few more definitions. Better yet, obtain some modern reading material that addresses land ownership in post feudal governing systems.

In my internet searches into AP, I have found that some states abhor the idea of a claimant knowingly taking the land of another through the process of AP, while some states have no problem with it whatsoever, they are only after the settling of the disposition of the title. At present, my investigations into it are not complete enough to quantify how many states follow either line of thought, or even what the trend is, but I can say with certainty that this spectrum of concept on the matter of AP exists.

Here's one for your research if you are not already familiar with it. It’s safe to say that is on the more liberal side of AP reasoning (by liberal I mean leaning toward the possessor).

Steve-

Wasn't your case up in that place where there are hidden mine shafts everywhere? Alta?

I remember the newspaper story where the guy died when his living room (with him in it) suddenly collapsed into an old abandoned mine shaft.

Dave

That's the place. The guy who went down with his living room was right around the same neighborhood. This was a very active mining area 100 years ago and it's pocked with unmarked shafts and scoured to a moon-like appearance in places by hydraulic mining.
