I have a pretty steep slope on the right side of the house and am NOT sure, what's the definition of the slope when retaining wall due by country/ city code? I'm just wondering, my builder/ developer doesn't violate code by not putting a proper retaining wall?

from foundation to ground; 4+ft depth with slope 30 to 35 degree angle; fence line distance is ~6 ft.

Local codes will dictate that but typically, and slope over 3:1 should trigger a wall.?ÿ With a 6' side yard, one would think that you would generally want to maintain something in the area of a 2% slope to the property line to make it usable and maintainable.

35degree slope for 6 feet? it's not doing anything much, you either put in a wall or it might be much better to flatten it, dig it out.?ÿ

lots of variables.?ÿ Several issues will likely guide design.?ÿ I suggest a geotech engineer if concerns.?ÿ Also, in our locality, we can stabilize slopes up to 2:1 with certain measures with 3:1 preferred.?ÿ Also, there is a building code issue for walls over a certain height and many get it wrong measuring from the grade to the top of wall where it should be measured to bottom of wall.?ÿ Rule of thumb is 1/3 in ground and 2/3 above for shallow walls.?ÿ For your situation, appears you can step the slope down with 'landscape' retaining walls <36/30" in height.

This question best answered by a structural engineer with geotech experience.
