    Hi everyone,

I am not a surveyor and my knowledge about surveying is very limited or even next to none. I take measurements of buildings in various stages of construction or even completed structures for purpose of cladding products applications. For some cladding products level of accuracy required is very high therefore we decided on exploring different advanced options since classical methods are time consuming in some cases and inaccurate in others. (try measure some complex geometry with tape and level and you will get the idea) My job so far was all about access to areas to be measured and 70% of my time i would be spending in elevated work platforms and such.

So we decided to purchase Leica Nova MS60 1″. All i had was really one day intro to Captivate and one more day in the field taking actual measurements. Most of the time i measure “any surface”, i use reflective tape targets for control-reference points. I have no need to position objects i measure in real coordinate system therefore all measurements i take are relative to an object i measure. For instrument setup i use measured control-reference points (i am not even sure that my terminology is correct) resection method. So far there was no issues with measurements taken and i have been using Leica since november 2019. This was just to give you an idea of what i do and what my level of knowledge is.

The “problem” (probably just something i do not know yet) i recently encountered is that when i move the instrument and to set it up, (resection) start measuring targets and to chose a target from the 3D viewer, i get for each point multiple readings. Can someone clarify this for me?

    see picture below

If there is anyone using similar type of instrument for similar type of work any advice in general would be helpful….either about the instrument or methods to utilize….anything…i would be very thankful.
